Model and announcer Kim Na-jung stated her position on the recent ‘Philippine drug incident’, calling it “forced drug administration against one‘s will”.
On the 18th, Kim Na-jung posted on her SNS, “I apologize for causing concern. The above is a statement compiled by my lawyer. I will faithfully cooperate with the investigation”, along with a screenshot of the full statement.
According to the statement, Kim Na-jung visited the Philippines to promote beauty products that were scheduled to be distributed there and to have a meeting to launch her own underwear brand. There, Kim Na-jung denied the rumors of her being a “sponsor”, saying that she was introduced to a young businessman, Mr. A, born in 1995.
During the drinking party that followed, Kim Na-jung got drunk, and for some unknown reason, Mr. A tied her hands, put a blindfold on her, and made her inhale (an unidentified) smoke. It is explained that the process of her being forced to inhale the smoke is stored on Kim Na-jung’s cell phone. According to the lawyer’s speculation, Mr. A was worried that filming the video with his cell phone would cause problems later, so he tried to use Kim Na-jung’s cell phone to store the video.
Mr. A also added that before forcing Kim Na-jung to inhale the drugs, he threatened her with a gun. Although there is no evidence for this, he said that Mr. A was currently wanted for multiple crimes and could not return to Korea.
Here, Kim Na-jung claimed that she was forced to take the drugs only once.
He added that there was a misunderstanding about the SNS post she made before returning to Korea, and that at the time, Kim Na-jung urgently confessed to using drugs in order to request personal protection to avoid Mr. A’s pursuit, and that it was not an admission of using the drugs willingly.
Kim Na-jung also said that she was unable to submit other evidence, including the video of the damage, to the insurance agency, and that she made some statements that were different from the facts because of this, and asked people to refrain from making any further speculation.

Meanwhile, on the 12th, Kim Na-jung posted on Shin‘s SNS (Instagram) story, “This is the Conrad Hotel in Manila. My life is in danger. “I’m scared to even go to the airport or take a taxi,” she said, before adding, “Please contact the embassy.”
Kim Na-jung then said at the Manila airport, “I want to go to Korea. If I get on a plane, I think I’ll die. If I leave Manila, I think I’ll die. The airport is dangerous, and this is Manila Airport. Please help me.” She then left her last message, “I’m getting on a plane…”
Kim Na-jung, who appears to have boarded a flight departing from Manila at 12:05, did not explain the circumstances surrounding her emergency request, raising curiosity about what was going on.
Later, a post that appears to have been hastily deleted was revealed through an online community. The deleted story contained the following: ”Last night, my 11 o’clock flight from Manila to Incheon on Korean Air was delayed to 12:05, and late at night, the airport staff, passengers, and immigration all filmed me, and to avoid a drug smuggling incident like the Truman Show, I threw away my carry-on bag and all my bags and came back instead of boarding Korean Air. If I get on that plane, I‘ll die,“ and ”Please help me, Republic of Korea. I confess to using drugs in the Philippines. I can’t get on the plane because I feel like I‘m going to die somehow due to my delusions.“
In the end, it was revealed that Kim Na-jung returned home after being investigated by the Incheon International Airport Police for about two hours on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. On the 14th, it was reported that she tested positive for methamphetamine in a simple drug test.
Meanwhile, Kim Na-jung became a hot topic after winning the 2019 Miss Maxim Contest. She has been active on various channels, such as appearing in survival games such as ‘Thought Verification Zone: The Community’ and ‘Black Sheep Game’, which were aired on OTT platform Wave.
