Singer Noel (real name Jang Yong-jun) mentioned the martial law declared last night.
At around 10:25 PM on the 3rd, President Yoon Seok-yeol held an emergency speech at the Presidential Office in Yongsan and declared martial law.
In relation to this, a fan of Noel shared a breaking news article about the martial law declaration with the hashtag, “Noel to the National Assembly”. In response, Noel left a reply on his Instagram story, saying, “You guys stay home. It‘s public service, but my brother will watch over you”. ‘Noel to the National Assembly’ is a lyric that Noel sang in rapper Giriboy’s song ‘It Hurts’.
Noel‘s father, former National Assembly member Jang Je-won, was appointed as the Chief of Staff to the 20th President-elect and has a deep connection with President Yoon Seok-yeol. Netizens took notice of Noel’s post regarding martial law.
Noel appeared on Mnet‘s ‘High School Rapper’ in 2017, but dropped out midway due to controversy over conditional dating. In 2019, he was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison and 2 years of probation for drunk driving. Then, two years later, he was sentenced to 1 year in prison for drunk driving without a license and assaulting a police officer, and was released in October 2022.
