Broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon is furious at malicious comments directed at the bereaved families of the Jeju Air plane disaster.

On the 3rd, Hong Seok-cheon wrote on his Instagram, “It‘s really sad. Who are the people sending malicious comments to the bereaved families and their children? They’re not even human.”

He continued, “I pray that the deceased may rest in peace. Now I‘m getting malicious comments too, right? I’ll fight for you, daughter. You damn rascals who are making malicious comments.”

Along with this, Hong Seok-cheon posted a news video titled, “The bereaved family suffering from malicious comments, the daughter sobbing.” The video shows Park Han-shin, the head of the Jeju Air Plane Disaster Bereaved Families Association, talking on the phone with his daughter.

Meanwhile, on the morning of the 29th, a Jeju Air plane departing from Bangkok, Thailand crashed and exploded at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province. The plane was carrying 181 people, including 179 South Korean nationals and two Thai nationals, and 179 people died, excluding the two who were rescued.

The government designated the period from the day of the accident to January 4, 2025 as a period of national mourning.
