The documentary film ‘First Lady’ about President Yoon Seok-yeol‘s wife, Kim Gun-hee, has decided to be released on the 12th, and is garnering much attention from audiences due to the current political climate.
The film ‘First Lady’ (Director: AemonㅣProducer: The Voice of Seoul, Today PicturesㅣDistributor: Film SakinoㅣCo-Distributor: Blue Film WorksㅣRelease: December 12, 2024) is a problematic documentary film that deals with the story of Ms. Kim Gun-hee, who has been at the center of controversies such as receiving an expensive Dior bag, changing the Yangpyeong Expressway route, and suspicions of civilian intervention in state affairs.
In particular, the film has become a topic of conversation as a film that is portrayed from various perspectives through various interviews with The Voice of Seoul reporter Lee Myeong-su, pastor Choi Jae-young, and CEO Baek Eun-jong.
First, reporter Lee Myeong-su revealed the recorded phone calls he had with Kim Gun-hee for six months in 2021 during the presidential election period after a long period of secret reporting, planned and reported on the Dior bag bribery suspicions with Pastor Choi Jae-young in 2023, and reported on Kim Gun-hee’s intervention in the nomination process in 2024 by revealing a recording with Kim Dae-nam, an administrative officer at the presidential office. Ahead of the release of this film, he attracted attention by saying, “I hope more people will know the true colors of the current administration and Kim Gun-hee!”
In addition, Pastor Choi Jae-young is a unification activist and North Korea missionary who presents new issues and visions for national harmony and independent unification to his compatriots through writing and lecturing while shuttling between the South and the North. He is the founder of the Social Movement Group NK VISION2020 and actively engages in civil society movements through five organizations: the Pastor Son Jeong-do Memorial Institute (history), the Northeast Asian Religious Committee (religion), the Inter-Korean Joint Growth Committee (economy), the Ojakgyo Forum (media), and the Culture and Arts Committee (arts).
Pastor Choi Jae-young also said ahead of this release, “You have to know about Kim Kun-hee properly to understand the current crisis in Korean politics. This film shows the true nature of Yoon Seok-yeol through Kim Gun-hee,” he said.
Representative Baek Eun-jong attempted self-immolation when President Roh Moo-hyun was impeached, later organized anti-Lee Myung-bak groups, and founded Seoul Voice and Journal In Media. He is an activist nicknamed “Kim Gu of the Streets.” He added, “This is a record of courageous people fighting against injustice.”
