The movie ‘Bogota: Land of Last Chance’ has released a main trailer that highlights the tense atmosphere between the characters.
The movie ‘Bogota: Land of Last Chance’, which depicts the story of Guk-hee (Song Joong-ki), who heads to Bogota, Colombia, on the other side of the world with new hope right after the IMF, getting entangled with Soo-young (Lee Hee-joon) and Byeong-jang Park (Kwon Hae-hyo), the powerful figures in the Bogota Korean community, has released a main trailer that heralds an extremely immersive experience.
The released main trailer begins with Guk-hee‘s family leaving for Colombia in search of new hope after the 1997 IMF crisis. Scenes that are not easily seen in Korea, such as yellow taxis, soldiers stationed at the airport, and military dogs, clearly convey the unfamiliar atmosphere of an unfamiliar land, and raise expectations for new things to see that will be the first Korean film to be set in Colombia. But the excitement is short-lived, as Gook-hee’s father Geun-tae (Kim Jong-soo) loses a bag containing all his belongings to a gun-wielding robber, and 19-year-old Gook-hee‘s race to retrieve it seems to foreshadow a life full of ups and downs in the future.
Gook-hee, who begins helping with smuggling under Sergeant Park, the most powerful figure in Bogota’s Korean community, earns Sergeant Park‘s trust with his earnestness that will do anything, and Soo-young, the number two man in the smuggling market, also takes notice of Gook-hee. Sergeant Park wants to test Gook-hee’s loyalty by giving her a mission to bring Soo-young‘s belongings to him, and Soo-young creates a dangerous atmosphere by saying, “Hyung, should I make you an offer?”, stimulating curiosity about what choice Gook-hee will make between the two. Here, the tension is heightened by the fierce power struggles among various figures surrounding the Korean community in Bogota and the smuggling market, including the nephew of Sergeant Park, who dominates the Korean community, Jang Sa-jang (Park Ji-hwan), and Su-yeong’s loyal junior Jae-woong (Cho Hyun-chul). The murderous look in Gook-hee‘s eyes as he subdues his opponent by saying in fluent Spanish, “I have neither money nor goods to share with a thief like you,” shows a sharp contrast to his appearance when he first arrived in Bogota, and arouses curiosity about what has happened to him since then. Lastly, Gook-hee’s desperate line, “I have to get to District 6 alive,” raises interest in where his arduous journey from the lowest place to the highest place will end.
The movie ‘Bogota: Land of Last Chance’, which is raising expectations with the story of the fierce lives of those running towards success in the unfamiliar land of Bogota, the immersive acting of trustworthy actors such as Song Joong-ki, Lee Hee-joon, Kwon Hae-hyo, Park Ji-hwan, Jo Hyun-chul, and Kim Jong-soo, and its hot synergy, is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 31.
