Actress Song Hye-kyo expressed her determination, saying, “I will work hard to become the goddess of genres,” as she chose “The Nuns,” her first occult genre film since the revenge drama “The Glory.”
“The Nuns,” which will be released on January 24, 2025, is a spin-off of “The Priests,” the 2015 debut film of director Jang Jae-hyun, who joined the ranks of directors who made 10 million viewers with “The Excavation” last year. It tells the story of people who embark on a forbidden ritual to save a boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit. The directing was done by Kwon Hyuk-jae, who created ‘The Count’, ‘The Fixer’, etc.
At a production report meeting held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 16th, Song Hye-kyo said about this work, which she chose after the much-loved Netflix ‘The Glory’, “It‘s true that I felt a lot of pressure (choosing my next project) because ‘The Glory’ received so much love. But I think this project was meant to be.”
She then said, “After acting in a genre piece in ‘The Glory’, I found new acting fun. That’s why I started looking more toward genre pieces when reading scenarios or scripts, and that‘s how I came across ‘The Nuns’. She added, ”I had the expectation that ’if I act in ‘The Black Nuns,’ I might be able to see another side of myself.“
She then laughed as she said about the title ‘Goddess of a New Genre,’ ”I still have a long way to go,“ but added, ”I will work hard to become that in the future.“
