The movie ‘The Black Nuns’ is drawing attention with its production that enhances the perfection of the movie.

‘The Black Nuns’ is a movie that depicts the story of people who embark on a forbidden ritual to save a boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit. As the second story of ‘The Black Priests’, the movie ‘The Black Nuns’, which will captivate theaters in the coming new year, is drawing attention with its art and music production that adds immersion to the play. The first production point is the art that captures the characters‘ situations and characteristics. Oh Hyo-jin, the production director of House Film, said, “We tried not to miss the fact that the story and characters are based on reality” and “The nuns or priests I passed by at the cafe today could be saving someone... I think that kind of thought makes the movie more enjoyable for the audience”, and the production team made detailed efforts to naturally capture everyday life that is not far from reality on screen. The scenes of nuns freely moving through the crowded city center, the place where exorcisms take place, and the space of the boy ‘Hee-jun’ who is possessed by an evil spirit are filled with various objects mobilized for treatment, adding a sense of realism to the play. In contrast, the spaces of nuns ‘Unia’ and ‘Michaela’ are spaces of emptiness, spaces that provide a glimpse into the restrained lives of nuns, while also containing the personalities and characteristics of the two characters intact, adding to the fun for the audience.

The second production point is experiential music that captures the five senses. The music for ‘The Nuns’ was directed by music director Kim Tae-seong, who worked on ‘The Priests’, and focused on connecting with and expanding on the previous work. If the previous film garnered attention by inserting a pipe organ performance consisting of 6,000 pipes into the OST for the first time in a Korean film, this work will present a new atmosphere unique to ‘The Nuns’. Furthermore, as music director Kim Tae-seong said, “I wanted the audience to feel ‘that they are ‘in that space’. I want them to immerse themselves in the characters’ journey as if they were actually joining them and experience the scene from beginning to end”, expectations are high that the music will captivate the audience‘s five senses as if they are breathing in the same space as the characters in the film. The film ‘The Black Nuns’, which draws attention with its detailed production that stands out for its realism, will captivate audiences with its differentiated setting and realistic yet tense story.

The film ‘The Black Nuns’, which will provide a high level of immersion with a combination of actors whose new transformations are expected, fresh material, and unpredictable developments, is scheduled to be released in theaters on January 24, 2025.
