The movie ‘The Nuns’, starring Song Hye-kyo and Jeon Yeo-bin, is catching attention with its production that heightens the perfection of the film.
‘The Nuns’, which will be released on the 24th, is the second story of ‘The Priests’, and depicts the story of people who embark on a forbidden ritual to save a boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit.
○Art full of detailThe first production point is the art that captures the characters‘ situations and characteristics intact. Oh Hyo-jin, the production director of House Film, said, “We tried not to miss the fact that the story and characters are based on reality”and”couldn’t the nuns or priests I passed by at the cafe today be saving someone... As he said, “I think that kind of thinking makes the audience enjoy the movie more,” the production team put in detailed efforts to naturally capture everyday life that is not far from reality on screen.
The scenes of nuns freely moving through the crowded city center, the places where exorcisms take place, and the space where the boy Hee-jun is possessed by an evil spirit are filled with various objects mobilized for treatment, adding a sense of realism to the play. In contrast, the space of Sister Junia and Sister Michaela is a space of emptiness, a space that provides a glimpse into the life of restrained monks, while also containing the personalities and characteristics of the two characters, which will add to the fun for the audience.
○Experiential music that stimulates the five sensesThe music for ‘The Nuns’ was directed by music director Kim Tae-seong, who worked on ‘The Priests’, and he focused on connecting with and expanding on the previous work. If the previous work garnered attention by inserting a pipe organ performance consisting of 6,000 pipes into the OST for the first time in a Korean film, this work will incorporate the sounds of a women‘s choir recorded in a cathedral to present a completely new atmosphere unique to ‘The Nuns’.
Music director Kim Tae-seong also wanted “the audience to feel ‘that they are in that space’. As he said, “I want the audience to immerse themselves in the characters’ journey and experience the scene from beginning to end as if they were actually participating in it,” he is raising expectations that the music will captivate the audience’s five senses as if they are breathing in the same space as the characters in the film.
