The movie ‘Harbin’, which has maintained the number one spot at the box office since its release, is expected to advance into the global market, achieving sales in 117 countries around the world as well as in South Korea.
According to CJ ENM on the 8th, ‘Harbin’ has achieved global sales in 117 countries around the world, including the US, Japan, France, Taiwan, Australia, and Spain.
Starting with the release in the US and Singapore on December 25, the film will be expanded to the US on January 3, Indonesia on January 1, Malaysia on January 2, Australia/New Zealand on January 23, and Taiwan on January 29. Other countries will confirm their release schedules sequentially.
This achievement is significant in that a historical material unique to South Korea was sold to 117 countries.
A CJ ENM overseas distribution manager said, “The anticipation for director Woo Min-ho‘s new film, the fact that top actors like Hyun Bin appear in it, and the fact that it has been invited to major overseas film festivals like the Toronto International Film Festival and received recognition for its quality, all seem to have appealed to overseas buyers.”
Meanwhile, ‘Harbin’, based on Ahn Jung-geun’s Harbin Uprising, depicts the breathtaking pursuit and suspicion between those heading to Harbin in 1909 with a single goal and those chasing them. It has been ranked first in advance reservations for 23 consecutive days since December 15th, and has been ranked first at the box office for 14 consecutive days since its release on the 24th, and is currently showing to great acclaim.
