‘Ghost Cop’ Shin Hyun-joon recalls the late Kim Soo-mi.

On the afternoon of the 13th, a press conference for the movie ‘Ghost Cop’ was held at CGV Yongsan I-PARK MALL in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Actor Shin Hyun-joon and director Kim Young-joon attended the press conference that day.

The late Kim Soo-mi, who appeared in ‘Ghost Cop’, passed away on October 25th of last year at the age of 75. The production team of ‘Ghost Cop’ also released a video tribute to the late Kim Soo-mi before the press conference began.

Regarding working with the late Kim Soo-mi, Shin Hyun-joon said, “Today, I was promoting the MBC program ‘Point of Omniscient Interfere’ with Jung Joon-ho since morning. I came to the theater laughing with Joon-ho and talking about my mom. I saw the poster with my mom and for a moment, I felt emotional. My mother told me to promote the program a lot the day before the opening, but I felt sad because there was only one chair in front of the poster.”

Shin Hyun-joon continued, “I met her as a mother in the movie, but she was my real mother. ‘Ghost Cop’ is also ‘Barefoot Ki-bong’ that my mother missed, and she said she wanted to make a movie that would make us happy and make the audience feel comfortable and family-like, so that’s how it came to be. Even now, it still doesn’t feel real that the two of us are talking about the movie. I should have talked about the movie with my mother, but the movie came out just as she wished. She said she wanted to screen it on Lunar New Year’s Day so that the whole family could watch it, and that’s what happened. It’s like the last gift my mother gave us. It’s that kind of movie.”

Meanwhile, ‘Ghost Cop’ is a family comedy about a police officer who has never been lucky enough to get a windfall and then gets struck by lightning out of nowhere, and then gains a minor ability, and gets entangled with his family and an unexpected incident. Opening on the 24th.
