Actor Shin Hyun-joon missed Kim Soo-mi, with whom he worked with son in the film ‘Ghost Cop’, 19 years after ‘Barefoot Ki-bong’. Kim Soo-mi sadly passed away from hyperglycemic shock in October of last year.

‘Ghost Cop’, which will be released on the 24th, is a family comedy about a police officer (Shin Hyun-joon) who gains minor abilities after being struck by lightning out of the blue after failing to make money once, and his family gets entangled in unexpected incidents.

Shin Hyun-joon said at a press and distribution preview held at CGV Yongsan I-PARK Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 13th, “Today, I happily filmed and promoted the MBC program ‘Point of Omniscient Interfere’ with Mr. Jung Joon-ho since the morning. Since it is a program that (continues to) follow the cast, I came to the theater laughing with Junho and talking about my mom (Kim Soo-mi). But when I saw the poster with my mom in the theater, I got really emotional for a moment. My mom said, ‘You and I should do a lot of programs together the day before the opening. Let‘s promote it a lot.’. But there was no chair in front of the poster, so I got really emotional.“

He then said, “I met my mom through a movie, but she was really like my real mom. The movie that my mom missed the most was ‘Barefoot Ki-bong’, and one day she said, ”Hyun-joon, let’s do a fun movie like ‘Barefoot Ki-bong’,‘, so that‘s how I ended up doing this movie,” and he reflected that the reason he decided to do this movie was also because of Kim Soo-mi.

He also said, “I talked to director Kim Hong-joon today, and it doesn’t feel real that it‘s just the two of us talking about movies. I had to talk about the movie with my mom. However, the movie came out just as my mom wanted, and it was released on Lunar New Year’s Day as my mom wanted it to be released during the holidays so that the family could watch it together. This movie is like the last gift my mom gave us,“ he added.
