Actor Shin Hyun-joon shed tears as he recalled the late Kim Soo-mi, with whom he worked with a hat in the movie ‘Ghost Cop’. Kim Soo-mi sadly passed away from hyperglycemic shock last October.
‘Ghost Cop’, which will be released on the 24th, is a family comedy about police officer Min Hyun-joon (Shin Hyun-joon), who gains minor powers after being struck by lightning out of the blue after failing to make a fortune once, and his family and unexpected incidents.
Shin Hyun-joon said at a press and distribution preview held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 13th that ‘Ghost Cop’ was “a planned with a series of movies in mind.”
In particular, he mentioned a scene hinting at the last main character Min Hyun-joon‘s mother (Kim Soo-mi) being struck by lightning, saying, “In fact, we were going to start the second film with the mother getting struck by lightning and gaining superpowers, so that scene was included. Before my mother passed away, she said, ‘I hope we make this movie well and make it into a series.” But my mother passed away like this,” she said, shedding tears.
Then she added in a trembling voice, “Actually, I debated whether to include or exclude the last scene. My mother is no longer here. But after discussing it with the director, I decided to just include it. I thought I shouldn’t touch even one scene featuring my mother.”
