The late Kim Soo-mi and Song Jae-rim, who sadly passed away last year, are back-to-back with their ‘Last Movie’ in theaters this month. The two people‘s last works are expected to be a small consolation to fans who were greatly shocked by their sudden separation.

Kim Soo-mi, who passed away from hyperglycemic shock in October, will meet audiences with ‘Ghost Cop’, which opens on the 24th. This is Shin Hyun-joon’s first work in 19 years since the 2006 film ‘Barefoot Kibong’, with whom he maintained a special relationship like a real mother and son.

In the drama, Shin Hyun-joon and Kim Soo-mi play the roles of a police officer who gains the supernatural power to hear other people‘s inner thoughts after being struck by lightning, and his mother and the owner of a famous local sundae soup restaurant, respectively. The names of the characters, ‘Min Hyun-joon’ and ‘Wang Soo-mi’, were taken directly from their real names, and the real charm and chemistry of the two actors were captured on screen.

At a press conference held before the release, Shin Hyun-joon shed tears out of longing for Kim Soo-mi. He said, “One day, my mom (Kim Soo-mi) told me that we should definitely do another movie like ‘Barefoot Ki-bong’, a fun and warm family love movie, and this movie is what we made that way.” He added, “This movie is like the last gift my mom gave us.”

Song Jae-rim, whose sudden death in November shocked viewers before ‘Ghost Cop’, will also be showing the movie ‘Plummet’, which contains his last acting, in theaters. ‘Plummet’ is based on the so-called ‘Luna Coin Crash’ incident in which Luna, which ranked 6th in market capitalization in the global cryptocurrency market in 2022, suddenly plummeted by more than 99.99%.

Song Jae-rim plays Yang Do-hyun, a young entrepreneur who tried to swallow the world, and shows the dark side of startup investment and the reality of young people addicted to making a quick buck. He also revealed the reason for his participation in this film, saying, “‘I felt a deep sense of significance in that it could alert the audience.”.

Director Hyun Hae-ri, who took the megaphone, said about Song Jae-rim, “Since he plays a character related to a real incident, he showed professionalism by thoroughly checking the latest news related to the incident every day before filming.”He was a truly capable actor. It’s a shame that this is his last work.”
