Kim Min-joo, formerly of girl group IZ*ONE, will make her screen debut in the film ‘Cheongseol’, which will be released on November 6th.

‘Cheongseol’ is a youth romance that tells the story of Yong-jun (Hong Kyung) who pursues love, Yeoreum (Noh Yoon-seo) who gets to know his true colors, and his younger sister Ga-eul (Kim Min-joo) who cheers them on.

In the film, Ga-eul, played by Kim Min-joo, is a hearing-impaired swimmer who feels more free than anyone else in the water and is so skilled that she competes with non-disabled swimmers. Ga-eul, who dreams of winning a gold medal at the Olympics, runs tirelessly to achieve her dream. She will also show real-life sister-like chemistry with Noh Yoon-seo, who plays her sister Yeoreum.

Kim Min-ju showed her passion by practicing sign language and swimming before filming began in order to fully embody the role of Ga-eul. Kim Min-ju, who used to be afraid of water, said, “Before filming, I went to the swimming pool and took sign language lessons over and over again. While preparing for the role of Ga-eul, I became friendly with water, and I headed to the swimming pool as soon as I opened my eyes. It wasn’t easy, but it was a really enjoyable experience. I really hope that the audience will cheer for Ga-eul after watching the movie.”

Meanwhile, ‘Cheongseol’ was officially invited to the Busan International Film Festival’s Korean Cinema Today - Special Premiere section, and became a hot topic as all screenings sold out as soon as ticket sales opened. Opens on November 6th.
