The movie ‘Hidden Face’ is garnering attention as the new work of director Kim Dae-woo, who has established a unique territory with his unconventional directing.
Director Kim Dae-woo, who captivated audiences with his unconventional storytelling and sensational directing, has returned with ‘Hidden Face’. As ‘Soo-yeon’ is chasing after his missing fiancée ‘Soo-yeon’, ‘Soo-yeon’‘s junior ‘Mi-ju’ appears in front of ‘Soo-yeon’, and they witness ‘Soo-yeon’, who was thought to have disappeared, being trapped in a secret space closest to them and her bare face exposed, a unique locked-room thriller that unfolds.
Director Kim Dae-woo has established his own style by presenting works that cross over eras and genres. First, he made a strong impression on the public with ‘The Tale of the Man in the House’ (2010), a new variation of a classic novel from a perspective that no one has attempted before. Next, in ‘Obsessed’ (2014), which deals with the aftermath of the Vietnam War in the 1960s, he stylishly directed the repressed desires and taboo relationships of humans that shook up social conventions, solidifying his position as a master of ‘high-quality eroticism’. Director Kim Dae-woo, who delicately portrays the primal instincts and emotions of humans, is expected to shock moviegoers once again with ‘Hidden Face’.
‘Hidden Face’ announces its full-fledged beginning when ‘Soo-yeon’ (Jo Yeo-jeong), who was thought to have disappeared, is trapped in a secret room and witnesses the hidden desires of her fiancé ‘Sung-jin’ (Song Seung-heon) and her junior cellist ‘Mi-ju’ (Park Ji-hyun). Director Kim Dae-woo plans to closely portray the desires of the three characters that shake up the play with suspenseful fun and unpredictable developments centered around the secret room. “Everyone has a secret they can’t tell,” and “‘ Hidden Face’, I wanted to depict the dark corridors of the soul and instincts,” said Director Kim Dae-woo, heralding the birth of a locked-room thriller unlike any other that has been shown before. ‘Hidden Face’, which raises expectations with such a shocking setting and genre, as well as an unconventional development, will prove that Director Kim Dae-woo has reached the peak of his directing ability.
‘Hidden Face’, the new work of Director Kim Dae-woo, the master of ‘high-quality eroticism’, is highly anticipated and is scheduled to be released in theaters on Wednesday, November 20.
