Korea‘s first volleyball film, ‘1Win’, starring Song Kang-ho, Park Jung-min, and Jang Yoon-ju, has confirmed its release date for December 4th and has released a video of the ‘Pink Storm’ lineup filled with unique characters.
‘1Win’ is a story about a professional women’s volleyball team, ‘Pink Storm’, that has no chance of winning, as they challenge to achieve their first win, with a coach who has never won, an owner who has no intention of winning, and players who don‘t know how to win.
In the released video, coach Kim Woo-jin (Song Kang-ho) who has never won is first introduced with the poignant line, “You’ve never done anything right in your entire life, from being fired to going bankrupt?”, capturing attention. As Kim Woo-jin continues his disappointing behavior, ignoring the players training and only saying “Let‘s do well” during the time-out during the game, Pink Storm’s losing streak shows no sign of stopping.
Next, Kang Jeong-won (Park Jeong-min), the club owner who has every appearance of a professional spectator, from his habitual autobiography publishing to his impulsive live broadcasts, and has no intention of winning, appears. Although he doesn‘t know the meaning of “volleyball,” he leaves everyone speechless with his simple and clear solutions: “Buy players” for the player shortage, and “Sell players” for the lack of funds. With his shocking promise of a 2 billion won prize for one win, he sold out all of his season tickets, raising curiosity about whether he can keep his boast that “I don’t know if a team will win, but I will create a team that sells.”
Boo Soo-ji (Jang Yoon-ju), the captain of the “Pink Storm” who has been a candidate for 20 years and a player who doesn‘t know how to win, finally steps onto the court, but makes a series of mistakes as she fails to read the signals from her teammates and the coach, and is eventually substituted again. “If you go to center now, you can play until you’re forty,” said Kim Woo-jin, who was switching positions, and she responded with, “I‘m forty, right?” This made people laugh, and her survival skills, which she showed by sticking to the bench like a wet fallen leaf and holding on thin and long, are expected to breathe life into the play.
