Gong Yoo‘s new drama ‘Trunk’, which will be released three years after ‘The Silent Sea’ on Netflix in 2021, is based on the novel of the same name by author Kim Ryeo-ryeong, and depicts a secret marriage service that begins to be revealed due to a trunk floating on the lakeside, and the strange marriage story of a man and a woman within it.

The drama, which combines genre and romance and promotes a unique ‘Mystery Melo’, will delve deep into the complex emotions of the characters involved in ‘Temporary Marriage’, such as love, compassion, salvation, obsession, desire, loneliness, and emptiness, and will densely portray their relationships.

In the drama Gong Yoo plays Han Jeong-won, a man who becomes a ’temporary couple‘ with Seo Hyun-jin’s Noh In-ji. He is a character who feels terribly lonely after getting married. Through this character, Gong Yoo, who showed a new side of himself that he had never shown in his previous works, explained, “I acted as someone who is very defensive and doesn‘t reveal his true self or feelings.”

Fans are also paying attention to his synergy with Seo Hyun-jin, who is working with him for the first time in this drama. Director Kim Gyu-tae, who directed the drama, said, “These two people were the top priority for me to direct this drama,” and “As expected, they exceeded my expectations. The director said, “The way they worked together, complimenting and encouraging each other, was such a ‘lovely combination.’”

Following ‘Trunk,’ ‘Squid Game’ season 2 will be released to global Netflix users on December 26, the day after Christmas. In Season 1, which shook the world, he appeared as a ‘man in a suit’ who leads the main character Sung Ki-hoon (Lee Jung-jae) into a game of tag and a deadly game with a prize of 45.6 billion won. Despite his short screen time, he left a strong impression and was a scene-stealer. Global fans are paying close attention to what kind of role he will play in Season 2.
