This winter‘s only family comedy film, ‘Big Family’, has a main character as important as Kim Yun-seok and Lee Seung-gi. That’s ‘Dumplings’. The mouthwatering dumplings are expected to warm the hearts of the audience.

The film ‘Big Family’, which will be released on December 11, tells the story of the owner (Kim Yun-seok) of the dumpling restaurant ‘Pyeongmanok’, whose family tree has been cut off because his son (Lee Seung-gi) became a monk, and his cute grandchildren whom he has never seen in the world visit, leading to an unexpected and amazing cohabitation.

In particular, the production team‘s efforts to support the uncompromising dumpling path of 38-year-old dumpling master Ham Mu-ok (Kim Yun-seok) are expected to shine in this film. Director Yang Woo-seok hired three dumpling experts to advise on dumplings before filming the movie, and they analyzed dumplings from famous restaurants across the country to create the dumplings that would be the most suitable for the menu of ‘Pyeongmanok’. Furthermore, Kim Yun-seok shows his craftsmanship by learning the actual dumpling dough, dumpling filling, and dumpling-making process on his own to portray a dumpling artisan.
Meanwhile, the min-eo dumplings that appear specially in the movie were recreated based on Director Yang Woo-seok’s idea. Min-eo dumplings, which are made with cabbage and dumpling filling made with min-eo, stimulate the audience‘s appetite just by looking at them.

Director Yang Woo-seok said, “Dumplings have been a precious food since ancient times, and were only eaten on holidays. “I thought that point matched well with the story of the movie ’Big Family‘, so I chose it as the main menu,” he said, sharing the story behind how dumplings came to be cast as the main character. Even in the released stills, the appetizing appearance of the dumplings raises expectations for the movie.
