The girl group TWICE will be appearing on NHK‘s representative year-end special broadcast ‘Kōhaku Uta Gassen’.
According to an announcement made by NHK on the 19th through their official SNS channel, TWICE will be performing on the 75th ‘Kōhaku Uta Gassen’, which will air on December 31st. ‘Kōhaku Uta Gassen’, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, is Japan’s representative year-end special program where top artists who have received much love in Japan throughout the year gather to perform.
TWICE has previously appeared on the program as a whole four times, from 2017 to 2019, and 2022, and the unit MISAMO, consisting of Mina, Sana, and Momo, appeared in 2023. Having entered the ‘Kōhaku Uta Gassen’ at the same time as their official local debut in 2017, this year marks their fifth appearance as a group, proving their powerful group influence and status.
From their Japanese debut best album ‘#TWICE’ (Hashtag Twice) on June 28, 2017 to their fifth full-length album ‘DIVE’ (Dive) released this past July, they have swept major charts such as Oricon and Billboard Japan with numerous works, and have won trophies at various award ceremonies such as the local Gold Disc Award and Record Award. Not only that, but as of May of this year, they achieved a record of cumulative sales of over 20 million copies of albums released in both Korea and Japan, and as part of their fifth world tour, ‘TWICE 5TH WORLD TOUR ’READY TO BE’, they performed at large local stadiums such as Osaka Yanmar Stadium Nagai, Tokyo Ajinomoto Stadium, and Kanagawa Nissan Stadium, where they became the first foreign female artist to do so, drawing hundreds of thousands of audiences.
TWICE will make a comeback on December 6 at 2 PM (12 AM EST) by releasing their 14th mini album ‘STRATEGY’. The title song ‘Strategy (feat. Megan Thee Stallion)’ features famous American rapper Megan Thee Stallion, completing the musical synergy with TWICE.
