An album of unreleased tracks from Eva Cassidy, the ‘never-ending wellspring of music’, who was never recognized while she was alive, is out now on LP and CD.
Recorded in 1995 at the ‘King of France Tavern’ at the Maryland Inn in Annapolis, the album features 13 previously unreleased tracks. Most of the songs on this album appear on her previous album, but these new songs have a special Western swing sound.
Eva is joined by her regular lead guitarist Keith Grimes, bassist Chris Biondo and violinist Bruno Nasta.
This arrangement, without drums, was made possible because the tavern stage was too small for drums, which paradoxically allowed Eva to sing more freely than in other live recordings. It is a good example of “less is more”.
Eva is said to have loved performing in the small, cozy and intimate tavern of this Maryland inn. The Eagles‘ western masterpiece ‘Desperado’, which appears at the end of the album, takes us to a heavenly world.
The album was released on LP and CD, and the LP is a 180g audiophile limited edition. In Korea, it is distributed by Good International, a specialized LP distributor.
