Actor Hong Woo-jin displayed stable acting through ‘Trunk’.
The Netflix series ‘Trunk’ (directed by Kim Kyu-tae/provided by Netflix/produced by Project 318‧G.Tist), which was released on the 29th of last month, is a mystery melodrama that depicts a secret marriage service that begins to be revealed due to a trunk floating on the lakeside and the strange marriage story of the two men and women inside it.
In the work, Hong Woo-jin plays ‘Oh Hyun-chul’, the label president of music producer Han Jeong-won (played by Gong Yoo) and a realistic father of two sons. Hong Woo-jin feels sorry for Han Jeong-won (Jung Yoon-ha) as he watches her from up close as she lives an unstable life after divorcing Lee Seo-yeon (Jung Yoon-ha) and is bewildered by her strange temporary marriage with Noh In-ji (Seo Hyun-jin), but he also cheers for Gong Yoo despite his grumbling.
Hong Woo-jin‘s lines, which seem to represent the hearts of the viewers as he closely watches Han Jeong-won gradually change as he meets Noh In-ji, drew sympathy from the viewers. The realistic family image shown by Oh Hyun-chul, who starts a family with Kang Yoon-ah (played by Joo Min-kyung), is contrasted with the abnormal family image of Noh In-ji and Han Jeong-won as a temporary couple, and is evaluated to have further heightened the mysterious atmosphere of the drama.
‘Trunk’, which stars Hong Woo-jin, Seo Hyun-jin, Gong Yoo, Jung Yoon-ha, and Joe Gun, garnered attention in Asian countries, including 8th place on Netflix globally and 1st place in Singapore, immediately after its release. Recently, it has been getting started on its box office success, ranking 1st on Netflix’s ‘TOP 10 Series in Korea Today’.
Hong Woo-jin said through his agency, “It was an honor to be able to work with great actors and staff on ‘Trunk’, and it was a fun time playing the character of Oh Hyun-chul. He said, “I will continue to work hard to show you various sides of myself through good works in the future.”
