Girl group Ailit‘s ‘Magnetic’ was ranked as the 5th most used song in Japanese YouTube shorts this year.
According to the annual ranking announced by YouTube Japan on the 11th, Ailit’s debut song ‘Magnetic’ ranked 5th in ‘Top Shorts Songs’ (counting period: January 1, 2024 - October 31, 2024). This category ranks songs based on the number of YouTube shorts videos using each song uploaded in Japan, and ‘Magnetic’ is the only K-pop song to make it into the top 10.
In addition, ‘Magnetic’ was ranked 3rd in ‘BEST OF 2024 K-POP’ by Amazon Music Japan. This was selected by Amazon Music curators based on the number of views, etc. among songs released from January to September 22 of this year.
In addition, it also ranked 1st in the ‘Hit K-POP’ category of the ‘Yusen Music Awards 2024’ by USEN, Japan‘s largest cable broadcasting company (counting period: November 24, 2023 to November 21, 2024). This is for songs that were frequently played in restaurants, retail stores, commercial and public facilities in Japan over the past year.
Illit’s popularity has already been confirmed through various indicators. ‘Magnetic’ previously ranked 25th on Apple Music‘s ‘Top Songs of 2024: Global’ and 15th on Billboard Japan’s annual chart ‘Hot 100’. It was the highest ranking K-pop song on the respective charts. ‘Magnetic’ was also the only K-pop song to be included on the list of winners of Japan‘s ‘Line Music Trend Awards 2024’.
Illit is also showing off its strong presence by being listed in year-end articles by major overseas media outlets one after another. Illit’s ‘Magnetic’ was included in ‘The 25 Best K-Pop Songs of 2024: Staff Picks’, recently announced by Billboard in the United States.
Billboard introduced ‘Magnetic’ as the first K-pop debut song to enter Billboard‘s main song chart, ‘Hot 100’, and praised it, saying, “You’ll discover a new charm every time you listen to it.’In addition, ‘Magnetic’ was selected as the ‘Best Song of 2024’ by the American public radio station NPR and the British NME, and as one of the ‘Best K-pop of 2024’ by the American PopMatters.
Meanwhile, Ailitt will be performing at the ‘2024 Music Bank Global Festival in Japan’ on the 15th, as well as Japan‘s ‘CDTV Live! Live!
