‘Idol powerhouse’ JYP Entertainment is releasing a new boy group.
According to JYP Entertainment on the 6th, the 7-member rookie boy group KickFlip will release their first mini-album ‘Flip it, Kick it!’ (Flip it, Kick it!) on the 20th and make their official debut.
KickFlip first revealed their group name and the 7-member silhouette photo at the ‘2024 MAMA Awards’ held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, USA in November last year, garnering the expectations of K-pop fans at home and abroad.
On this day, JYP opened the members‘ profile images and album scheduler through KickFlip’s official SNS channel and announced their official debut. Kickflip consists of seven members: Gye-Hoon, Amaru, Dong-Hwa, Joo-Wang, Min-Je, K-Ju, and Dong-Hyun.
Ahead of their official debut, they pre-released the full version of the music video for the track ‘Eung Grrr’. After that, they will sequentially release music video photos and a choreography practice video for the pre-released track on the 7th, an introduction film on the 8th and 9th, concept photos on the 10th to the 14th, a tracklist poster and track video on the 15th, and a music video teaser on the 16th and 17th.
On the debut day, the 20th, they will hold a debut show on Mnet M2 at 7 PM and a debut showcase at 9 PM, attracting attention. After a splendid debut ceremony, they will hold a debut pop-up at The Hyundai Seoul in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul for a total of 9 days from the 25th to February 2nd.
The pre-released song ‘Yeah Yeah’ music video begins with a humorous scene of Gye-hoon falling over while skateboarding. The members‘ cheerful energy and the unique visual beauty add to the fun to watch. The song is characterized by lyrics that cheerfully, refreshingly, and pleasantly take on unpleasant nagging, and humorously expresses the message, ‘I won’t care about obvious nagging and will go my own way’.
The team name ‘Kickflip’ refers to the difficult technique of spinning the board 360 degrees with the tip of the foot, and JYP‘s new faces, Gye-hoon-Amaru-Dong-hwa-Ju-wang-Min-je-K-ju-Dong-hyun, are taking their first steps in the music industry with the ambition to be unconstrained by existing methods and to be active in new ways, as if they were spinning the board once and moving forward.
