Group BOYNEXTDOOR is releasing a new ‘MZ Breakup Song’.

According to their agency KOZ Entertainment on the 6th, they will release their first digital single ‘Only Today I Love You’ (오늘만 I LOVE YOU) at 6 PM that day.

The song is a dance song that uniquely depicts the realistic aftermath of a breakup. The lyrics, which break away from the stereotype that ‘Breakup songs are sad’, stand out for their realistic lyrics. The members, who added ideas throughout the song, showed off their unique individuality by acting out the aftereffects of a breakup in the music video teaser.

Boynextdoor (Sungho, Liu, Myung Jaehyun, Taesan, Lee Han, Unhak), who started the new year off strong with a comeback, gave a Q&A through their agency KOZ Entertainment.

Q. Why did you release a new song despite being busy with the special year-end stage preparations and solo tour?

Boynextdoor: We were able to gain a lot of strength thanks to the love that ONEDOOR (fandom name) gave us last year. In order to repay the love you sent us, all the members actively shared their opinions and prepared the new song. We are currently on our first solo tour since our debut, and we thought that there would be fans who couldn‘t come to the concert hall who would miss us a lot. We prepared ‘Today Only I Love You’ because we wanted to be with them as well. We hope you enjoy this new song as a gift.

Q. Why did you choose a post-breakup miserable appearance as the theme of the song?

Boynextdoor: This single is a side story that started from the curiosity of ’What if we break up?‘ As much as we showed everything from well-founded confidence to deviation in our previous album, ’19.99,‘ we wanted to tell a new story in our new song. I thought that the emotion of ’pathetic‘ went well with the melody, and I chose it as the theme because I thought it would be refreshing to sing about a self-deprecating appearance after a breakup. I think anyone who has had an experience similar to the lyrics of this song will be able to relate and immerse themselves in it as if it were their own story.

Not only for ’Today I Love You,‘ but also for all songs, we always have meetings with the producers and share a lot of ideas. This time, Taesan and Unhak participated in the song, and all the members’ ideas are embedded throughout. So you can feel the color of Boynextdoor strongly.

Q. What efforts did you make to bring out the emotion of ‘MZ Breakup Song’ that is not just sad?

Rio:Although it is about a breakup, it has a cheerful side, so I focused on expressing the middle ground vocally, without being too excited or too depressed.

Taesan: I tried to put various emotions into my voice when recording. I would also appreciate it if you pay attention to the lyrics that are full of life. You will feel a different feeling from the songs I have released before.

Seongho:I recorded it as if I was acting rather than singing. I hope that emotion is well conveyed.

Unhak: In order to convey the emotion, I paid attention to singing as if I were speaking in everyday life. Lately, we‘ve been doing a lot of live performances, so I’ve kind of forgotten those things, but while recording this song, I found the joy of singing as if I was speaking again.

Myung Jae-hyun:I think that part that Unhak mentioned shows the team‘s unique characteristics well, so I would appreciate it if you listen carefully.

Q. What are the points to appreciate about the song, performance, and music video?

Taesan:There’s a gesture that looks like you‘re smashing the guitar to the beat of the chorus, and I think that’s the killing part.

Lee Han:As always, I think the biggest charm of Boy Next Door‘s songs is their witty lyrics and choreography.

Liu:The performances that match the lyrics aren’t childish, but are very witty.

Unhak:The song has an attractive, naturally flowing composition. I hope you enjoy that flow. And just like ‘MZ Breakup Song’, every part is a ‘kill point’.

Seongho:There were a lot of details in the performance, so we all practiced hard to bring them to life. There‘s a scene in the music video where I play the guitar. We tried various ad-libs to express the emotions that came to me while filming. It was new because we could act freely as we felt.

Q. What are you looking forward to from this promotion?

Myung Jaehyun:While preparing the song, I thought the most about whether Wondoor fans would like it. I want to give our fans good memories through this promotion.

Lee Han: Our goal is to show an impressive stage since our promotion period is short. Just like the modifier ‘Trust Bonek’, we will work hard so that we can become a Boynextdoor that you can trust and watch this time too.

Taesan: I want to see our fans happy.

Q. How do you feel and aspirations for the new year?

Myung Jae-hyun: I think our goals don’t change much every year. To show you good music and performances! I will approach this year with the same mindset.

Seong-ho: While working hard last year, I was able to realize and grow a lot. This year, I want to grow even more and show you a cooler side of me.

Liu: My goal is to meet more One Door members.

Taesan: I‘m excited because we have various schedules lined up for the beginning of the year, including a comeback and first solo tour. I want to continue to be healthy and have fun with the members this year as well.

Lee Han:I want to continue to try various things with music and on stage. I will show you more new sides of me that you haven’t seen before.

Unhak:I‘m turning 20 this year, so I have different feelings, but I don’t think my goals will change much from before. I will work hard to become the good adult and artist that I think I am. I will grow a lot more than I am now, so please look forward to it.
