The ‘Junior Breaking Day’, a program to discover and nurture aspiring breaking stars, was held on January 10th and 11th at Multiground Spark in Deungchon-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
‘Junior Breaking Day’, one of the breaking project support programs co-hosted by the SBS Cultural Foundation and the Korea Breaking Federation, expanded the scope of participants so that previous finalists in the Breaking Project junior category and friends they would like to listen to together could participate.
‘Junior Breaking Day’, which was held over two days with a total of 12 classes, was composed of content to improve the skills of aspiring breaking stars, b-boys and b-girls, in Korea. In particular, Japanese national team coach Narumi (FUKUSHIMA RIE), who contributed greatly to Japanese b-boy and b-girl athletes winning medals in international sports competitions, such as the gold medal in the b-girl category at the 2024 Paris Olympics (AMI) and the gold medal in the b-boy category at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games (SHIGEKIX), taught the class on both days.
In addition, a total of 7 special instructors, including the first South Korean national breaking team coach Cho Seong-guk (BEAT JOE) and current national breaking team coach So Jae-hwan (KING SO), participated and provided professional and substantial knowledge to aspiring breaking athletes who are aiming to become national representatives and perform on the international stage.
The ‘Breaking Project’ has been a program that has been carried out since 2021 with the aim of discovering and nurturing Korean breaking talents in light of the adoption of breaking as an official event in the 2024 Paris Olympics. It is the first in the world to provide one-year support to excellent winners. Unlike other categories, the Junior category provides one-year benefits to all eight finalists, providing extensive support.
Meanwhile, the 8th Breaking Project will open on Saturday, February 15 at the Ibex Studio in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi-do, and will be held across three categories: Rising Star and B-Girl.
