The group 82MAJOR has entered the Billboard charts just one year after their debut.
According to Billboard, an American music media outlet, on the 5th, 82MAJOR (Nam Sung-mo, Park Seok-jun, Yoon Ye-chan, Jo Sung-il, Hwang Sung-bin, and Kim Do-gyun) entered the Album Sales chart at 45th with their second mini-album ‘X-82’, released on October 15th.
They also set an unprecedented new record in the group‘s career by ranking 37th on the ‘Current Album Sales’, 24th on the ‘Emerging Artist’, and 15th on the ’World Sales‘.
According to the announcement from the US chart analysis platform Luminate, they ranked 5th on the ’Top New Artist Albums‘ chart, 13th on the ’Record Label Independent Current Albums‘, and 36th on the ’Heatseekers Albums‘ chart.
This is an indicator that 82Major is receiving attention in the US even though they are a rookie artist who debuted only a year ago. Above all, this chart record is very meaningful in that 82Major, an artist from a new agency rather than a large agency, proved their status to the public and fans solely through their skills.
In addition, 82Major also ranked 20th on the ’Internet Albums‘. This is a meaningful achievement for a 5th generation idol group targeting the MZ generation, who have a high demand for digital music.
Earlier, 82 Major was recognized for their talent and potential, and received digital covers and shoutouts from American hip-hop magazines and foreign media outlets. Since their debut, 82 Major has been gaining attention from around the world for their active overseas activities, and they have shown unusual signs. They are now making their presence felt by entering Billboard for the first time.
Following their first mini-album ’BEAT by 82‘, 82 Major participated in writing lyrics and composing the title track and other tracks in ’X-82‘, solidifying the group’s identity. In particular, the music video for the title track ’Stuck‘ has garnered attention from domestic and international fans, recording 11 million views in just a week with its cinematic directing and 82 Major‘s signature style.
