The idol powerhouse ‘YG‘s rookies’ were indeed different.
YG Entertainment’s rookie girl group Baby Monster showed off their extraordinary global potential by confidently entering the US Billboard main chart with their first full-length album.
According to the latest chart released by Billboard first through SNS on the 12th (Korean time), Baby Monster‘s first full-length album ‘DRIP’ entered the main album chart ‘Billboard 200’ at 149th place. This is their first time entering the Billboard main chart in 8 months since their official debut.
Baby Monster’s global popularity storm was predicted early on. Billboard in the United States selected Baby Monster as the most promising K-pop rookie of 2024, saying, “They‘ve decorated the year nicely with their first full-length album filled with attractive songs.”
In fact, Baby Monster is standing out not only on Billboard but also on various global charts. This album swept the iTunes album charts in 14 regions and settled in 2nd place on the iTunes Worldwide Album Chart. It also topped the real-time chart of Line Music’s Top 100 Albums, Japan‘s largest streaming site.
They are also steadily rising on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform. One of the double title songs, ‘Drip’, continued its popularity by charting on the Spotify Daily Top Song Global Chart on the 8th, and renewed its own highest ranking (109th) on the same day.
In addition, Baby Monster is opening the door to full-scale activities such as appearing on music shows and entertainment shows, and is also gradually rising in the rankings on major domestic music charts. As they are preparing for their first world tour since their debut next year, their expansion is expected to become even stronger.
