Izna, a group created by Mnet, the idol audition powerhouse, will be making their debut this month. Izna is a seven-member girl group formed through Mnet‘s audition brand ‘Island 2’, which heated up TV screens in the first half of the year.
The release date for their first mini-album, which will be recorded as their official debut date, is the 25th. The first mini-album features almost all of the best producers from ‘Island 2’, which was just as much of a hot topic as ‘A Star Is Born’.
The Black Label brains including Teddy, Vivienne (VVN), Twentyfour (24), KUSH, and Vince were all mobilized, and ‘K-pop blue chips’ Theron Thomas and Tommy Brown also stand out. Theron Thomas and Tommy Brown recently wrote G-Dragon’s new song ‘Power’ together.
The title song of Izna‘s first album and the official debut song is ‘Izna’, which is the same as the group’s name. The ‘Island 2’ mission songs ‘DRIP’, ‘FAKE IT’, and ‘IWALY’, which were highly requested for a physical album release, will also be included as the ‘Izuna Version’ of the final 7 members created for ‘Island 2’.
The debut stage has also been confirmed. It will be the ‘MAMA AWARDS’, a global awards ceremony representing K-pop and the pride of Mnet, which will make its debut at Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan on the 22nd.
Meanwhile, with the appearance of Izuna, interest is once again being drawn both inside and outside of K-pop to the so-called ‘Mnet Girl Group Genealogy’, which is tied together through Mnet auditions. Starting with I.O.I, IZ*ONE, and Kepler are representative examples.
IOI produced Jeon So-mi and Chungha, who are active as solo artists, and IZ*ONE produced Kwon Eun-bi, Jang Won-young, Ahn Yu-jin, and Sakura and Kim Chae-won of ‘Ive’.
