If there was one thing that would stand out the most in K-pop in 2024, it would be the genre diversification, namely the ‘K-band’ craze. In line with this, there was a ‘No. 1 contributor’ who laid the foundation and built it up for over a decade before K-bands could fully bloom, so it would be difficult for anyone to deny that FNC Entertainment (FNC) is one of the major K-pop agencies.
The lineage of ‘idols with instruments’ FNC bands, which have both mass popularity and outstanding skills, such as FT Island, CNBLUE, and N.Flying, will be transfusing new blood in the new year of Eulsa and completing the number 5 ‘Penta system’. Multinational band Hi-Fi Unicorn and FNC‘s newcomer ‘Amp’, who have confirmed their debut within the year.
FNC’s own system will be releasing a new special move, ‘Amp’, which is the first in 10 years. FNC has confirmed the official launch of the new male band Amp, which is named after ‘amp’, which means amplifier at the end of the year.
Ahead of their debut, Amp is also showing off that they are a different band from the start by producing lead actors for blockbuster dramas that are scheduled to air within the year. FNC recently announced that Amp member Ha Yu-jun will be appearing in the new SBS drama ‘Spring of the Four Seasons’. In ‘The Spring of the Four Seasons’, which is set on a college campus, the role he took on was none other than the title role, ‘The Four Seasons’.
As expected from a ‘K-band powerhouse’, FNC Entertainment has been making sure their members gain ‘stage experience’ before stepping into the spotlight. For example, AMP was included in the lineup for the ‘LOVE FNC COUNTDOWN’ concert, a type of joint concert featuring FNC artists.

There are also bands that were formed through ‘multinational members formed through auditions’, which can be considered a 5th generation idol trend. Hi-Fi Unicorn is one of them. The five-member group consists of Kim Hyun-yool, Son Ki-yoon, Um Tae-min, Fukushima Shuto, and Heo Min, who came from the 2023 Korea-Japan joint audition program ‘The Idol Band: Boyz Battle’.
They established themselves as a next-generation band while traveling between Korea and Japan last year, and on the 1st, they announced the news of signing a contract with Sony Music, one of Japan‘s largest labels.
