Fashion magazine Singles has released a special pictorial commemorating the 15th anniversary of ‘51K’, which So Ji-sub is a part of.
This pictorial sensually captures the charms of 51K‘s artists So Ji-sub, Ok Taecyeon, Lee Seung-woo, Cha Hak-yeon, Lee Dong-ha, Jung Ga-hee, Park Joo-won, Uhm Jun-ki, and Kwon Han-sol, and completes a pictorial that highlights the family bond of 51K artists.
So Ji-sub quietly cheered on his juniors at the 51K pictorial set, which was full of individuality. He then mentioned his thoughts on the 15th anniversary of the founding of 51K, which he has been with for almost half of his time since his debut. So Ji-sub said, “Starting from a one-man agency, nine actors are already here to shoot a 15th anniversary pictorial, and I thought, ’Wow! Time flies so fast!‘ It was a new feeling.” There were definitely difficult moments, but I am so grateful to CEO Kim Jung-hee, with whom we have been together for 15 years without any major incidents, and I want to support my juniors in the future so that they can fully demonstrate their abilities.”
Not only did Ok Taecyeon deliver news of a contract with an American agency, but he is also set to advance into the Japanese market with the film ‘Grand Maison Paris’ and the drama ‘Soulmate’. “Hollywood is also seeing an increasing demand for Asian actors, and I have English as my strength, which I wanted to utilize someday. When I debuted with 2PM, I had a dream of inviting my friends in the US to my concerts, and now I am thinking about showing them how I can act!” He also said, “I’m looking forward to both the movie ‘Grand Maison Paris’, which I just finished filming, and the drama ‘Soulmate’, which I‘ve just finished filming.”
Lee Seung-woo, who is bright and positive, mentioned Cho Seung-woo several times as an actor he wants to be like. When asked what he wanted to be like about Cho Seung-woo, Lee Seung-woo said, “When I was preparing for college entrance exams, I watched a lot of Cho Seung-woo’s musicals and movies, and I naturally wanted to be like Cho Seung-woo. It was so amazing how he showed different faces for each character in his works, and I wanted to learn from that,” expressing his respect for Cho Seung-woo.
Cha Hak-yeon clearly showed his own calm color through this pictorial. We asked Cha Hak-yeon, who showed various sides of himself through ‘Diva of the Deserted Island’ and the VIXX fan meeting this year, how he felt about appearing in ‘Killer Next Door’, which will be aired on the OTT platform. “I think I‘ll be able to show a new side of myself as ’Yoon-jae,‘ a fan of professional baseball players! I decided to appear in the drama because I wanted to expand the spectrum of expression I can give. I always think about wanting to show various sides of myself, and I made the decision without much hesitation because I trust the director and writer,“ he said, raising expectations for his next work.
Lee Dong-ha is actively working in musicals, plays, and dramas. Lee Dong-ha, who answered that the driving force behind his tireless work is “I love acting”, said when asked about his New Year’s resolutions for 2025, “After finishing the play ‘Killology’, the musical ‘The Goddess is Watching’ will run from the 26th of last month to March 3rd of next year. Also, since I am planning to film a drama in December, I hope to live well as that character with all my heart wherever I am on stage or on set in 2025. And above all, I hope to be healthy,” she said.
Jung Ga-hee, who left a strong impression as the young junior ‘Sumi’ in the hit Netflix drama ‘The Glory’, took on the role of a mood maker on the photo shoot. We asked Jung Ga-hee which role or work she is most attached to. “‘The Glory’ is the first work in which I acted in a medium other than the stage. Even though it was a small part, many people remember ‘Sumi’ and like it enough to repeat ‘Sumi’’s lines, so it is a meaningful work for me. ‘Understudy’ was my first play after doing only musicals, but I was able to learn a lot from working with great seniors, and it was a work that helped me grow, so it is memorable,” he explained.
We asked actor Park Joo-won if he had a hard time emotionally while filming the drama ‘The Night Has Come’. Park Joo-won said, “After I was cast, I kept looking at the script and practiced a lot so that ‘Na-hee’‘s speech and every action became second nature. This is my first time appearing in a drama for such a long time, so I wanted to do well, and I really wanted to try acting in a high-teen genre, but I learned so much. It was hard because I kept thinking about the fear of death, which I had never experienced in real life, in order to immerse myself in the situation, but I also had so many good memories on set with many actors my age, so it became an unforgettable work,” he expressed his affection.
Actor Um Joon-ki, who won the ‘Male Actor of the Year’ at the 6th Chungmuro Film Festival Director’s Fortnight and the ‘Acting Award’ at the 39th Busan International Short Film Festival for his role in the film ‘Rollim Gun’, said, ”It‘s so hard to choose just one work that I particularly like. Sometimes when I watch the works I appeared in, memories of those times come to mind and I think that they were all works that gave me great strength. Just like actor Um Joon-ki’s filmography is building up, I want to continue to create good works with good people in the future,“ expressing his affection for his works.
Kwon Han-sol, who has been a scene-stealer in works such as ‘Moving’, ‘Lee Doo-na!’, and ‘Morning Comes to the Psychiatric Ward’, said that this was her first time doing a magazine pictorial shoot. Regarding her thoughts on the shoot, she said, “The Singles pictorial shoot with my seniors and company family was even more meaningful because of that. I felt reassured because I was working with my seniors, so I was able to enjoy the shoot even though it was my first pictorial.” Finally, when asked about her plans for the new year of 2025, she said, “I want to finish filming ‘I Took the First Night of the Male Lead’ that I’m currently filming well. Since it’s my first historical drama, I want to do well without any regrets, and I want to go on an overseas trip after the drama is over. I hope that everything Kwon Han Sol wants to do in 2025 will come true.”
The pictorials of 51K artists can be found in the January issue of Singles.
