Actress Park Ji-hyun has returned with another 19+ keyword film following ‘Hidden Face’.
On the afternoon of the 6th, Park Ji-hyun met with Donga.com for an interview for the film ‘A Fairy Tale But It‘s Free (hereafter referred to as Fairy Tale)’ at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, and talked about the film.
On this day, Park Ji-hyun first talked about her feelings about being the only lead in a film for the first time, saying, “When I first went on the movie ticket reservation site, my face was as big as the door. It was really burdensome. When I was filming the film, rather than thinking that I was the only lead, I did my best with the same mindset. Now that it’s released, I feel a sense of responsibility. This is my first time experiencing the meaning of being the only lead, so I don‘t know what it’s like. I didn‘t feel like I was the only lead while filming. Everyone who filmed with me did their best, so I don’t feel like I‘m leading the project alone, but rather that we all did our best to achieve the best results,“ she said.
She added, ”I did my best during filming. After filming, the technical team did their best. The success of the movie depends on how the audience perceives it. I hope many people enjoy the movie. I try to think positively that it’s not just my fault if the movie does well, and it‘s not just my fault if the movie flops.“
Park Ji-hyun will present ‘Fairy Tale But It’s Free’ right after the release of ‘Hidden Face’, which was a hot topic for its daring exposure and a 19+ rating. Wasn‘t it burdensome to release two movies with the keyword of 19+ rating back to back? Regarding this, Park Ji-hyun said, ”Actually, this movie’s title wasn‘t like this. Also, the genre is comedy, and it’s a different genre from ‘Hidden Face’. So I didn‘t even think the genres would overlap. I didn’t know the release schedule would be like this, and even if it was like this, if you watch the movie, you‘ll know that the characters are completely opposite characters, so not at all. Rather, I think it’s good that they‘re released back to back to show contrasting images.“
Regarding the reason she chose ’Fairy Tale, But It‘s Not Free’, Park Ji-hyun said, ”I had a strong thirst for comedy acting even before I did this project. I‘d like to thank the director who suggested the comedy acting script. The character is not a comical child. There are many interesting and funny points when the given situation and Dan-bi’s personality meet, so I thought that if I truly become Dan-bi, the audience who watches it will laugh. I think I came up with the idea because it contains content that targets the hearts of young friends. My seniors who I worked with were also very accepting, so the set was free and it was a set where filming didn‘t end and I was greedy for more. It was a creative place where everyone thought of and suggested more ideas. That’s why I think it was a work that could produce more fun comedies,“ he said.
Meanwhile, ‘Fairy Tale But It‘s Free’, which will be released on the 8th, is a comedy film about Danbi, who dreams of being a fairy tale writer but is actually a public official in charge of cracking down on pornography, who has no choice but to write an R-rated web novel and unexpectedly discovers a sacred writing talent.
Park Ji-hyun plays the role of Danbi, who accidentally writes an R-rated web novel in ‘Fairy Tale But It’s Free’, challenging the comedy genre for the first time in her life. At first, she looks down on R-rated web novels, but gradually discovers the sacred talent hidden within her.
