As the group BBGIRLS (Minyoung, Eunji, Yuna) is making a fresh start as a three-member group, they have opened up about their concerns about ‘eternity’.
In an interview to commemorate the release of their second single [LOVE 2], BBGIRLS stated, ‘Through countless trials and errors, we learned how to maintain a team.’.
“When I was young, I simply thought of ourselves as a ‘team’, and it wasn‘t shocking when members changed. But now, if even one of us were to disappear, I think it would shake things up a lot. Our relationship is that close and precious. BBGIRLS are my indispensable attachment dolls, and I feel anxious without them.” (Yuna)
“Idol groups are relationships that were formed through business. You start out knowing that you’ll have to part ways someday. But I don‘t think I’ll ever part ways with these friends. That‘s because we’ve learned how to maintain a team and continue on. Each person has their own life and each person may have different wants, but that doesn‘t mean the team has to break up, right? We can work together well through conversation. That’s why we‘ll keep going.“ (Minyoung)
Minyoung continued, ”We might get married and have children in the future, but does it have to lead to disbandment?“ and said, ”We’ve talked among ourselves about getting married and having children around the same time, just like male idol groups enlist. Let‘s create co-parenting content. We’re a group with a story, so I‘m sure we’ll be together in the future,“ making people laugh by giving specific examples.
Eunji said, ”Survival is over now. (We can‘t) lose any more members,“ adding, ”Depending on the situation, the number of members can increase. The current members joined Brave Girls, the predecessor of Brave Girls, in 2016. Although they have experienced many member changes over the past 9 years, Minyoung has always been in charge of the leader, Eunji as the waist, and Yuna as the youngest.
Yuna said, “I don’t feel like I‘m the youngest or the older sister. We’re like friends. But I‘ll still be the youngest even when I’m 70,” showing off the beauty of the youngest members of Brave Girls. Eunji said, “As the waist, I‘ll try to connect well in the middle. However, I’m the only one whose MBTI type includes ‘F’ (feeling type). ”I‘m often torn between the two ‘T’ (thinking types), but I’ll try to grow strong,“ she said, revealing an unexpected hardship(?).
Minyoung said, ”I‘m the eldest daughter at home. My personality is typical of the K-eldest daughter. I think I’ve always been the leader, even before my debut when I was a trainee. Even when there were seven of us, and even now, I‘m the leader, but the members take care of us so well that I only take on the role of leader when I have to step up.“ She added, ”I really want to maintain the team. No matter how determined the members are, if the situation is difficult, it won’t work. Someone has to step up for the team to be maintained, so I‘ve done that and will do that. It’s my destiny.“
”After my contract with Warner Music Korea expired, I created a company called ‘BVGirl Company’. It was out of a sense of responsibility. It was to make the fans feel secure and not anxious. The CEO of GLG, my current agency, helped me a lot at the time. As he was an artist, he had a good understanding of us, and he was someone I had known for a long time. We transferred together based on trust. I also liked the actual contract terms. ‘BVB Girl Company’ has been put on hold for a while, but since it is my company, it can be revived at any time.” (Minyoung)
With BVB Girls‘ solidarity standing out, [LOVE 2] is the group’s new album, their first in about 1 year and 5 months since the double single ‘ONE MORE TIME’ released in 2023, and is the first album released as a trio and after joining their new agency GLG. The members sang a heart-pounding story of overcoming a crisis and becoming stronger.
Eunji said, “I‘m nervous because it’s been a long time since our comeback. ”I‘m excited because we’ve reorganized as a trio and I want to meet our fans quickly,“ she said. ”It‘s a song that will warmly melt away the cold winter, so I hope the public will feel comforted and hopeful when they listen to the new song.“
Minyoung said, ”We want to show that we’re still going strong and will be active in the future,“ and added, ”Since we‘re not a large group, I was worried that there might be an empty spot on stage. That’s why we have a lot of dancers on stage to make the performance look full. We also prepared hard to show each member‘s role in their position.“
It’s not a ‘summer song’, which represents BVB girls, but a winter song. Regarding this, Yuna said, ”As the choreography and music video came out to match the song, we unintentionally suddenly acted innocent,“ and added, ”It‘s a warm and fuzzy atmosphere. When you listen to ‘Rollin’, you get the feeling of ‘Refreshing!’, and with this new song, you’ll immediately feel ‘It‘s winter!’,“ he said, hinting at the difference.
”In the past, there were a lot of songs with provocative or bouncy melodies and high vocal ranges that stab you, but this time it’s a completely different vibe. We chose it as the title song because it‘s a song that you can approach more comfortably.“ (Minyoung)
”We want to go on a regular run, not a reverse run, with the new song. But isn’t it hard to just enter the music charts these days? We‘d be grateful just to be in the Top 100.“ (Eunji)
Lastly, the three members, who are approaching their 10th anniversary next year, promised that they will actively promote with the support of their fans as their driving force, saying, ”10 years is nothing.“
“It’s our 10th anniversary, but we‘ve only had about 5 years of hiatus. We haven’t shown much yet, so I‘m looking forward to the future of BVB.” (Yuna)
“We live in an era where the life expectancy is 120 years. 10 years is nothing. Even as our years increase, the stage is always new and exciting. We’ve only been pretending to be carefree. We still have a lot we want to do and a lot we haven‘t done, so the 10th anniversary doesn’t really feel that great. I think we‘re lucky. There are many groups that disappear from the music industry without even getting a chance, but we’re able to be active like this. That in itself is something to be thankful for. We overcame hardships and adversity and made a comeback to number 1, but we can‘t end up not living up to the expectations of the fans who were with us during that time. We’ll create an opportunity for us to be active for more than 30 years.” (Minyoung)
“It‘s only been a year and a half with BVB. We’re a 5th generation girl group. (Laughs) Our fans, we‘ve been through ups and downs together, so they must be tired, but they wait silently. That’s why we will do our activities beautifully and coolly in the future.“ (Eunji)
Brave Girls‘ second single [LOVE 2] will be released on various music sites in Korea and abroad at 6 PM on the 15th.
