Director Hong Jong-chan said, “I am aware of the recent criticism and concerns about some episodes in the original work. I will do my best to create a drama with a more refined perspective with a sense of responsibility. Regarding the reason he decided to appear in the drama ‘True Education’, Kim Moo-yeol said, “After reading the script for the drama adaptation of ‘True Education’, I felt that it was a work that allowed me to think about the current state of education and the discrimination and absurdity within it. Also, the strong trust in director Hong Jong-chan’s directing ability, who confidently handled a potentially difficult subject matter in his previous work, ‘Juvenile Justice’, was a big factor in deciding to select the work,” he said.
The script for ‘True Education’ will be written by writer Lee Nam-gyu, who has written warm perspectives on the socially disadvantaged and humorous yet profound stories, such as Netflix‘s ‘Morning Comes to the Mental Ward’ and JTBC’s ‘Dazzling’. Writer Lee Nam-gyu said, “I worked on the drama ‘True Education’ with the earnest hope that it would become a small opportunity to confront the problems in the educational field of this era and find a clue to recovery.”
