‘Drama Special 2024’ The fourth one-act drama ‘Turning the Corner’ proved the true value of a melodrama with emotional directing, a lyrical script, and the actors‘ passionate performances.
On the KBS2 drama ‘Turning the Corner: Drama Special 2024’ (directed by Lee Hae-woo, written by Seok Yeon-hwa) aired on the 3rd, the happy ending of Won Seo-hoo (played by Jung Gun-joo), a man from the Road View filming team with a keen eye for direction, and Seong Eun-ha (played by Choi Hee-jin), a pharmacist who doesn’t know her way around, overcoming the pain of separation and starting a new love made viewers excited.
‘Turning the Corner’ opened with Eun-ha struggling to find her father Ho-gil (played by Park Yoon-hee), who disappeared one morning, leaving behind only a letter. While checking out the Road View near her father‘s business partner, she discovered a man who looked like Ho-gil. Even though it was covered with mosaic, it was exactly like her father, from his physique to his standing posture.
Eun-ha asked Seo-hoo, who was a regular at the pharmacy and worked at the Road View production company, to remove the mosaic on the Road View. However, Seo-hoo flatly refused, saying that it was beyond her authority.
However, Eun-ha, who firmly believed that the man on the Road View was her missing father, did not give up and approached Seo-hoo. Her persistence moved the hearts of the production company staff and Seo-hoo, and she checked the Road View screen with the mosaic removed. As Eun-ha was certain, the person on the Road View was her father, and she shed tears and stroked Ho-gil on the screen, stimulating her tear ducts.
Eun-ha began to move in earnest to find her father, but finding a place she had never seen before was not easy for her, who was clueless. Seo-hoo began to worry about Eun-ha, who did not return late at night. Seo-hoo, who had a keen eye for directions, immediately found the fence where Ho-gil had been standing. At the same time, Eun-ha, who was still wandering around, was delighted by Seo-hoo’s call and expressed her gratitude to him for coming to her place right away.
Seo-hoo then told Eun-ha about her separation from her mother who left her when she was six. When Seo-hoo asked Eun-ha if she was afraid of finding her father, Eun-ha said, “It‘s because of me. That way, when I have to let go of something regardless of my will, the time I spent trying not to let go becomes comforting. I like how I try. I especially want to try harder for the person I like.” Seo-hoo was a little shaken by Eun-ha’s sincerity in dealing with the separation, which was different from his.
The next day, Eun-ha found out that her father had learned how to tie her hair from the owner of a hair salon 20 years ago. Eun-ha‘s eyes turned red as she realized her father’s deep love once again, and Seo-hoo comforted her, saying that they should definitely find their father together. The sight of two people slowly seeping into each other on the same path was exciting.
Seo-hoo had a complete breakup with his ex-girlfriend Se-yeon, who had unilaterally left him several times. Seo-hoo, who had put an end to his long-term love, was able to let go of the wounds and pain from that time. The strange love between Seo-hoo and Eun-ha, who had been taking care of each other since then, made viewers‘ hearts flutter.
In the meantime, Eun-ha found out about the whereabouts of her father, whom she had been waiting for so long. Ho-gil, who had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, had been admitted to a nursing home alone because he did not want to be a burden to his daughter. The caregiver who saw Ho-gil missing his daughter told Eun-ha about this, and the dramatic meeting between father and daughter was realized. In the process, Eun-ha‘s heartbreaking story was also revealed. Ho-gil, who was her uncle, had been holding Eun-ha in his arms after losing her parents on the same day in a past accident. Eunha’s sobbing as she sheds the tears she had held back in her father‘s arms moved the viewers.
At the end of the broadcast, Seohoo prepared an event to create a heart-shaped path for Eunha, who wanted to ride a Segway. The ‘Companion Ending’, where the two enter the Alley of Love at each other’s pace, filled the viewers with warmth.
The fifth one-act drama, ‘Hot Soles of My Feet’, which will decorate the finale of ‘KBS Drama Special 2024’, will air on KBS 2TV on Tuesday the 10th at 10:50 PM.
