Actor Lee Byung-hun drew attention by expressing his confidence in season 2 of ‘Squid Game’ and his strong faith in director Hwang Dong-hyeok.
Season 2 of the Netflix original series ‘Squid Game’, which will be released on December 26th, is a story about the fierce confrontation between Ki-hoon (Lee Jung-jae), who returns to the game after vowing revenge, and the Frontman (Lee Byung-hun) who greets him, as well as the real game that begins again.
At a production conference held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) Art Hall in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 9th, Lee Byung-hun, who plays the Frontman, said, “In season 1, the Frontman existed as a functional role that oversaw and commanded the game, but in season 2, the Frontman‘s story is explained to some extent, and why this character participated in the game, what he is thinking, etc. He explained, “From a position where he thinks completely differently from Ki-hoon, he judges that Ki-hoon is thinking wrongly and takes action to make him realize it.”
He then expressed his strong trust in director Hwang Dong-hyeok, saying, “Season 2 has so many main characters, and so the stories that are organically connected are much more numerous and complex than other works. However, Director Hwang’s ability to identify, correct, and judge all of those problems is truly amazing. When I go to the filming set, the assistant director tells me the expected time for filming to end, but filming always ends earlier than that. That’s how accurately the director identifies the necessary scenes and films them. He’s really amazing.”
