Jinyoung from KBS 2TV‘s new Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Miss Granny’ revealed a conversation he had with actor Lee Jin-wook, who played a similar role in the original film.
Jinyoung said at the production conference for ‘Miss Granny’ held at the Stanford Hotel Korea in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 12th, “It’s been 10 years since I‘ve been remade as a movie of the same name, so I was honored and happy to receive the offer.”
In the original, he played the grandson of the main character, Mrs. Oh Mal-soon, and this time he plays Daniel Han, a music producer who develops a love line with Oh Mal-soon (Oh Du-ri) who has returned to her 20s. He explained, “As someone who starred in the original, I really enjoyed the movie, and I’m confident that the drama will be able to tell a story that the original couldn‘t.”
Regarding his appearance as a different character in the same work, he said, “In the original, I was the grandson. Ten years later, I was playing the character that senior Lee Jin-wook played in the original work. That was actually burdensome. He was a senior I respected, and I wondered how to do the character in the movie,” but then looked back and said, “However, since the content was different, I decided to do it my way.”
He also said, “After being cast, I met senior Lee Jin-wook and talked to him, and he was impressed. He said, ’Time has passed and you‘ve played my role.’”
Meanwhile, “Miss Granny,” which will be aired for the first time on the 18th, is a romantic musical growth drama about grandmother Oh Mal-soon (Kim Hae-sook) who suddenly transforms into a 20-year-old Oh Du-ri (Jung Ji-so) and once again enjoys her shining heyday. It is a remake of the 2014 film of the same name starring Na Moon-hee and Shim Eun-kyung.
