Cha Joo-young shows off a different side of herself.
Having left a strong impression in last year‘s hit drama ‘The Glory’ as the stewardess Choi Hye-jeong, she returns this time as a strong queen.
She has been cast as Queen Wongyeong of the Min clan in the tvN historical drama ‘Won-gyeong’, which will be first aired on January 6th next year.
The drama is a historical drama that sheds light on the life of Queen Wongyeong, the ‘kingmaker’ who put her husband Lee Bang-won on the throne of the third king (Taejong) in the early Joseon Dynasty. Queen Wongyeong, who Cha Joo-young will play, was born into the Min clan, a powerful family during the Goryeo Dynasty, married Lee Bang-won, and served as his political companion.
The production will be directed by Kim Sang-ho, who directed ‘Fantasy Couple’, ‘Avengers of Buam-dong’, and ‘Money Game’, and writer Lee Young-mi wrote the script.
Through this drama, Cha Joo-young is determined to shed the urbane image she has shown so far by challenging her first historical drama since her debut. In particular, while she played the role of a ‘helper’ until now, this time she will step forward and lead the flow of the drama.
In the drama teaser video recently released by the production team ahead of the first broadcast, Cha Joo-young’s unique charisma is captured as it is and catches the eye.
Along with the title, “The Woman Who Dreamed of a New World”, Cha Joo-young‘s calm voice and appearance as she transformed into a queen exude elegance.
In the official poster, Cha Joo-young portrayed the image of a strong queen by standing from behind, looking out over the grand palace from the middle of the side chambers where the king usually resides and conducts state affairs.
An official from the production company said, “It’s hard to believe that this is her first historical drama, as she effectively expressed the tone of her lines and pronunciation. “You can see Won-kyung‘s fiery life through Cha Joo-young.”.
Cha Joo-young plans to solidify her name and position starting with this drama.
He is actively promoting in various fields, including PD Kim Tae-ho’s new entertainment program ‘World Tour of the Earth’, and also starring in a series of movies.
He recently finished filming the movie ‘Sister’. He has also decided to appear in the movie ‘Lobby’, directed by Ha Jung-woo.
