‘Suspicious Girl’ has shown a different development from the original movie right from the first episode.
In episodes 1 and 2 of KBS 2TV‘s Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Suspicious Girl’ (directed by Park Yong-soon/written by Heo Seung-min) that aired on the 18th, Oh Mal-soon (played by Jung Ji-so), who has transformed into a woman in her 20s, entered Eunice Entertainment, opening the show with a strong performance. The first episode recorded a viewership rating of 3.9% (based on nationwide households, provided by Nielsen Korea), providing healing to viewers on Wednesday night.
In the broadcast that day, Oh Mal-soon (played by Kim Hae-sook), who is in her 70s, told her family that she wanted to appear on a singing program to fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a singer. However, her daughter Ban Ji-sook (played by Seo Young-hee) tried to dissuade her, saying that she would be embarrassed, while her husband Choi Min-seok (played by In Kyo-jin) and daughter Choi Ha-na (played by Chae Won-bin) just watched the tense war of nerves between the mother and daughter. Despite Ji-sook’s dissuasion, Mal-soon visited the broadcasting station to appear on the program, where she ran into Kim Ae-shim (played by Cha Hwa-yeon), with whom she had a past connection. Mal-soon, shaken as soon as she saw her, ended up ruining the stage of ‘The Man in the Yellow Shirt’.
Meanwhile, Hana declared to Ji-sook that she would give up on the CSAT, and Mal-soon, who witnessed the confrontation between the two, only took Hana‘s side. Ji-sook then said to Mal-soon, “You didn’t raise me like that. Rather than protecting me, you shouldn‘t show that you don’t have a father even when I do something slightly wrong. You caught me so fiercely,” causing viewers to feel sad.
After a huge fight with Ji-sook, Mal-soon left the house and got into a mysterious taxi, arriving in front of a photo studio and taking a memorial photo there. After taking the photo, Mal-soon opens her eyes and looks in the mirror, screaming at the sight of her younger self and asking people to confirm whether her appearance is real, leading to an exciting development.
Mal-soon (Jung Ji-so), who returned to her 20s, bought new clothes and allowed the clothing store owner to upload her photos to SNS. At the same time, Daniel Han (Jin-young), a producer at Eunice Entertainment who was in a difficult situation due to the disappearance of trainee Emily (Jung Ji-so), saw Mal-soon‘s photos posted on a clothing store’s SNS and headed there to find her whereabouts.
Meanwhile, Mal-soon accidentally discovered Royal Salon, a store where she had worked part-time as a child. However, she was bewildered by the store‘s completely changed appearance and the unfamiliar kiosk ordering method, and received help from her granddaughter, who had come to perform there. Mal-soon, who found Hana in an unexpected place, approached her and introduced herself as the granddaughter of Mal-soon’s grandmother‘s friend. Malsoon, who had nowhere to go, grabbed Hana and went to a karaoke with her. Later, Daniel also followed Malsoon to a karaoke with the testimony of the clothing store owner. Daniel, who saw Malsoon singing, thought of Emily from three months ago. The faces of Malsoon and Emily, who looked exactly like her, heightened the curiosity of the play.
After that, Malsoon met Daniel face to face and was wary of him pretending to know her. Daniel couldn’t help but feel embarrassed when she, who looked exactly like Emily, couldn‘t remember anything. So Daniel showed Malsoon Emily’s audition video. Malsoon was surprised to see Emily with the same face as her, and her anticipation for the story that was about to begin grew.
The next day, Malsoon went to Eunice Entertainment and asked Daniel, who was sure that she was Emily, “What if I‘m fake? What if I’m not the Emily you‘re looking for?” At that moment, Malsoon with a completely different style appeared, confusing the viewers. The ending, where the 70-something Mal-soon and the young 20-something Mal-soon face each other, has piqued viewers’ curiosity and increased their immersion in the drama.
In this way, ‘Suspicious Girl’, unlike the original movie of the same name, has captured the attention of viewers of all ages from the first episode with a new story of three generations of women, the appearance of an idol group, and young Mal-soon and old Mal-soon appearing in the same space.
The third episode of KBS 2TV‘s Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Suspicious Girl’ will air on Wednesday, the 25th at 9:50 PM.
