Yook Sung-jae and Kim Ji-yeon‘s exorcism and disgusting romantic comedy... Teaser for ‘Gwigung’ released

The special teaser for SBS’s ‘Gwigung’, a fantasy romantic comedy about an imoogi and a shaman, has been released.

SBS‘s new drama ‘Gwigung’, scheduled to air in 2025 (written by Yoon Soo-jung/directed by Yoon Sung-sik), is a fantasy romantic comedy about a shaman named Yeo-ri who rejects her fate as a shaman, and an imoogi named Kang Cheol-i who is trapped in the body of Yeo-ri’s first love, Yoon Gap, and their bodies and souls become tightly entangled as they encounter the eight-faced ghost who holds a grudge against the royal family. Director Yoon Sung-sik, who directed the dramas ‘Mr. Queen’, ‘The Best Yi Sun-sin’, ‘Bridal Mask’, and ‘Daejoyeong’, and writer Yoon Soo-jung, who wrote the dramas ‘The King‘s Face’, ‘Cheer Up, Go Go’, have joined forces. The lineup of attractive actors has been completed, including Yook Sung-jae (as Yoon Gap/Kang Chul-yi), Kim Ji-yeon (as Yeo-ri), Kim Ji-hoon (as Lee Seong), and Kim Young-kwang (as Kang Chul-yi) in a special appearance.

Among them, a special teaser for ‘Return to the Palace’ was revealed on the ‘2024 SBS Drama Awards’, which aired on the 21st (Sat). This teaser video begins with a pink mood, with the honest and beautiful scholar Yoon Gap appearing in front of Yeo-ri with a bright smile, and them setting off on the road to Hanyang.

However, this sweet excitement is shattered with the appearance of the evil spirit ‘Imugi Kang Cheol’, a troublemaker only visible to the shaman Yeo-ri. Kang Cheol shouts, “Hanyang! Absolutely not!”, and Yeo-ri, who has had a bad relationship with him since childhood, is depicted as gnashing her teeth at Kang Cheol’s tyranny.

The situation is reversed when Kang Cheol briefly possesses Yoon Gap‘s body. Yeo-ri vents her anger at Kang-cheol, who is behaving bizarrely(?) without showing his noble scholarly appearance, saying, “This is the most precious face to me, but inside it is you, the person I hate the most.” Kang-cheol is embarrassed, saying, “Why can’t I get out of this body?” In the meantime, Kang-cheol, who feels a thrill from Yeo-ri, is embarrassed by feeling human emotions for the first time, saying, “I think I just want to eat you.” This adds to the curiosity about the disgusting romance between the snake and the shaman that ‘Gwigung’ will portray.

The second half of the teaser video explodes with tension with the appearance of ‘Pal-cheok-gwi’, who holds a grudge against the royal family. The Joseon Dynasty‘s King Lee Seong declares an all-out war, saying, “If you want my blood, I will.” The palace and the city are turned into chaos by the Palchukgwi, and the people are possessed by ghosts and run wild. In addition, the scenes of Kang Cheol, Yeo-ri, and Lee Seong taking out their swords and weapons to catch the Palchukgwi are shown.

The highly anticipated new SBS drama ‘Gwigung’, which combines a humorous and exciting fantasy romantic comedy about a fight for flesh and an exorcism action drama that will keep your palms sweaty, is scheduled to air in 2025.
