Episode 9 recorded ratings of 6.4% nationwide, 6% in the metropolitan area (provided by Nielsen Korea, based on households), and a peak rating of 6.8%, turning home theaters on their heads with its sweeping romantic thriller development.
In yesterday‘s episode, Hee-joo showed her unwavering love even after finding out that Sa-eon was not Baek Eui-yong’s (played by Yoo Sung-joo) biological son. Hee-joo, who checked the paternity certificate of Sa-eon, firmly confronted her stepsister, saying, “It‘s my choice. Now Hong Hee-joo has chosen Baek Sa-eon.” In-ah couldn’t hide her surprise and emotion at hearing Hee-joo‘s voice, which she hadn’t heard since her childhood.
When she couldn‘t contact Sa-eon, Hee-joo became upset and strongly demanded that Ui-yong and Shim Gyu-jin (played by Chu Sang-mi) find out about Sa-eon’s whereabouts. After leaving her in-laws‘ house, Hee-joo learned from Chief Min (played by Hong Seo-joon) that Ui-yong and the kidnapper had ’odd eyes‘ in common, and was soon shocked to find out that the kidnapper was really Baek Sa-eon.
A while later, Hee-joo heard the news of Sa-eon’s accident from Ji Sang-woo (played by Heo Nam-joon) and rushed to the emergency room. Sang-woo, who went to the fishing store to investigate the missing child case at the orphanage, witnessed Jeong Sang-hoon (played by Kim Jun-bae) and Sa-eon who were unable to escape the fire. Sang-woo‘s whole body and body saved the two people brought relief to viewers.
After listening to Sang-woo’s story, Hee-joo stayed by Sa-eon‘s side after the surgery and made a big decision to protect him who must have been lonely for a long time. As soon as Sa-eon regained consciousness, Hee-joo headed to the police station with a threatening phone, but when Sa-eon appeared and blocked her path, she began to blame herself for having once joined hands with the kidnapper. When Sa-eon asked, “Does it matter if I’m not the Baek Sa-eon you knew?”, Hee-joo answered, “I‘m glad I know you now. I’m sorry I found out too late,” which made viewers emotional. The deep love between the two people who are only for each other moved the hearts of the viewers.
In the meantime, Sa-eon sincerely apologized to Sang-woo who saved her and Sang-hoon. Sa-eon asked Sang-woo to treat Sang-hoon, a crucial witness in the orphanage case, and told him that the kidnapper who blackmailed her and the culprit of the disappearance of the orphanage children were the same culprit.
Sa-eon and Hee-joo attended the presidential office event together for the first time as a spokesperson and sign language interpreter. Even though Sa-eon had not recovered, he stood on the same stage with Hee-joo, and the two showed off their fantastic chemistry and finished the event perfectly. Sa-eon left Hee-joo‘s transportation home from work to his closest aide, Park Do-jae (played by Choi Woo-jin), and then headed to the graves of the victims that the real Baek Sa-eon had killed.
At the end of the broadcast, Sa-eon was shocked to hear the unexpected news from Jang Hyuk-jin (played by Go Sang-ho) that the missing person’s family in the orphanage case was Do-jae. Sa-eon, who sensed a crisis, immediately called Do-jae, who was with Hee-joo, but became anxious when he did not answer the phone. At that moment, Do-jae looked at Hee-joo, who was sleeping, with a meaningful look and intentionally avoided Sa-eon‘s contact. Sa-eon’s fear of losing Hee-joo decorated the ending, raising expectations for the next episode that will reach the extreme.
