The City Boys caught everyone‘s attention by leisurely enjoying Lapland’s unique culture and showing off their local demeanor.
The tvN show ‘Living in a Shared Room in Finland’ (directed by Lee Se-young) that aired on the 27th depicted the City Boys‘ delightful journey of getting a real feel for Lapland through reindeer yoga and local cuisine, and arriving at their second shared room with a new mindset.
As a result, ‘Living in a Shared Room in Finland’ recorded a peak of 3.3% for households in the metropolitan area and a peak of 3.1% for households nationwide, taking first place in the same time slot among cable and comprehensive programming in both the metropolitan area and nationwide. tvN’s target 2049 male and female viewership ratings also ranked first in the same time slot among cable and comprehensive programming in both the metropolitan area and nationwide. On this day, the City Boys enjoyed the traditional Finnish smoke sauna and heated up their last night in their first three-person room. In the endurance test that suddenly unfolded in the sauna, Kwak Dong-yeon tenaciously held on until the end and achieved the feat of becoming the final winner. The sight of him coming out of the hot sauna and entering the cold lake to cool off his body and completely immersing himself in the unique charm of the Finnish sauna also gave viewers a thrill.
In addition, Lee Dong-hwi‘s bold breakfast preparation, which challenged his first cooking in his life, was also exciting. Lee Dong-hwi, who had no confidence in his cooking skills to the point of saying, “I can’t even cook 0.1,” decided to try preparing a meal for his struggling younger siblings. After many twists and turns, he completed a crunchy and savory scramble by adding cabbage and flakes(?). Contrary to his worries, the members’ positive reactions brought a smile to Lee Dong-hwi’s face. When Lee Dong-hwi carefully took out the secret ingredient snack that enhanced the savory taste of the scramble, the members burst into laughter at the absurdity.
On the way to their new room, the four tried reindeer yoga, a specialty of Lapland, and spent time becoming one with nature while taking on yoga poses modeled after reindeer. The sight of them lying on the grass, feeling the sound of reindeer grazing and the smell of nature with their whole body made viewers laugh.
In particular, the course meal enjoyed at a restaurant where they practiced self-sufficiency through hunting, fishing, and gathering and received a wild food certificate attracted attention. First, they learned a local-style Finnish toast and showed themselves completely immersed in Finnish life by shouting “Halakun karakun” and toasting with the locals.
Next, when they tasted the raw deer meat aged in ice water from the course meal, there was a clear division of likes and dislikes. The younger brothers gave up eating it, but Lee Je-hoon said, “It’s a taste that I’m experiencing for the first time and it’s amazing,” and continued to eat the deer meat his younger brothers had left without stopping. On the other hand, the reindeer steak and fish dishes, the favorite menus of the Lapland locals, captivated everyone’s taste buds.
After arriving at their new home, the City Boys followed the second tenant to see a field full of various vegetables such as cucumbers, green onions, arugula, and potatoes. While feeling warmhearted at the kindness of the owner who generously shared vegetables, the City Boys heard the shocking news that the second room was located 20km away, deep in the forest.
It seems that their second room will be more difficult than their first room. You can watch the story of their second room, which will be even more difficult, on tvN’s ‘Finland Room Life’, which will air on Friday, January 3rd at 8:40 PM.
