MBC ‘Entertainment Awards’ Cancelled… Jeju Air Plane Accident Special Report to be Aired [Official]

The ‘2024 MBC Entertainment Awards’ will be canceled.

MBC announced on the 29th, “Due to an emergency news special report, the ‘2024 MBC Entertainment Awards’, scheduled to air today, December 29th (Sunday) at 8:30 PM, will be canceled. We ask for your understanding.”

At around 9:03 AM that day, a Jeju Air plane was attempting a body landing after failing to lower its landing gear at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province, veered off the runway, crashed into the outer wall, and exploded. It was confirmed that 181 people, including 179 South Korean nationals and 2 Thai nationals, were on board the plane, of which 2 were rescued and 85 were killed (as of 1 p.m.).
