Actress Jeon Hye-jin shared her thoughts on the end of ‘Love on a Single-Log Bridge’.
Jeon Hye-jin played the role of Maeng Soo-ah, a math teacher at Dokmok High School and Yoon Ji-won‘s (Jung Yu-mi) best friend, in the tvN Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Love on a Single-Log Bridge’ (directed by Park Joon-hwa, Bae Hee-young/written by Lim Ye-jin/planned by Studio Dragon/produced by Studio Dragon, Blitzway Production), which ended on the 29th, adding another life character to her filmography by acting in the right place for the right drama.
‘Love on a Single-Log Bridge’ received a lot of love for its small and everyday sub-stories in addition to the main story. Especially among the colorful characters that fill the drama, Maeng Soo-ah, who added her signature cheerful and refreshing charm, stood out. Jeon Hye-jin, who delivered her unique lines and actions with clever and experienced acting, brought laughter with just a single line and added liveliness to the drama. In addition, Maeng Soo-ah, who preferred lighter relationships because she was the pillar of the family, also smoothly portrayed the process of change as she began to love more deeply, adding a spoonful of romance to the drama and contributing to the flavor of a romantic comedy.
Jeon Hye-jin, who breathed life into the drama with her natural acting skills, expressed her gratitude to the viewers who loved “‘Love on a Single-Log Bridge’ and to everyone who loved Maeng Soo-ah as she concluded the drama. (I hope the drama) can be a little bit of comfort and joy to someone,” he said in his greeting.
● Below is Jeon Hye-jin’s Q&A
Q. A few words on the end of ‘Love on a Single-Log Bridge’
I’m so grateful to the viewers who loved ‘A Stranger’ and to everyone who loved Maeng Soo-ah.
Q. You seem to have a lot of affection for the character Maeng Soo-ah. What drew you to the character?
I think our drama has the charm of making people feel good by reminding them of sweet memories of their school days. I liked the fact that Soo-ah, who is unconditionally on my side and whom I can depend on and confide in whenever I need comfort, reminded me of the girls in my school days in the images of Yoon Ji-won and Maeng Soo-ah.
Q. What did you focus on when creating the character of Maeng Soo-ah?
She is bright, honest, and free-spirited, but Soo-ah also has her own weight to carry as the pillar of the family. I think that no one doesn’t have a story, but everyone lives their own role without letting it show at work or anywhere else. I wanted to express the image of a cheerful and endlessly bright person who lives in reality without a care in the world in a natural way.
Q. How was the chemistry with the other actors and the atmosphere on set?
It was a series of good days because I always laughed and filmed with the teachers and staff of Dokmok High School. The director was especially kind to me, but I think it‘s because I was acting as Maeng Soo-ah on set and Soo-ah’s pleasant energy transferred over.
Q. You had your first romantic drama in a long time, how was it?
I sympathized with Maeng Soo-ah, who used to enjoy light relationships, coming to like a serious and mature person. It‘s nice that Soo-ah has a boyfriend she can lean on. I think we’ll be able to date for a long time this time. (Laughs)
Q. You‘ve been busy this year, from ‘Trunk’ to ‘Love on a Single-Log Bridge’. How do you think this year will be remembered?
I vaguely had a goal of participating in many works as an actor in my 30s and building up a diverse filmography, and I’m proud that I‘m getting closer to that goal. In fact, the results are important, but I’m the type to give more meaning to the process. I enjoy the process of going to the set and working with people, and I think the process is a very important part before the results. I had a lot of fun acting in that sense this year, and I hope that I can be of some comfort and joy to someone.
