In ‘Madam Ok‘s Tale’, Chu Young-woo returned, giving up everything for Lim Ji-yeon.
In episode 9 of JTBC’s Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Madam Ok‘s Tale’ (written by Park Ji-sook, directed by Jin Hyeok and Choi Bo-yoon, produced by SLL, Corpus Korea) that aired on the 4th, Ok Tae-young (played by Lim Ji-yeon) was on the verge of becoming a widow when Cheon Seung-hwi (played by Chu Young-woo) miraculously appeared in front of her, causing the affection to reach its peak. Accordingly, the viewership ratings jumped to 10.6% in the metropolitan area and 10.3% nationwide, ranking first among weekend mini-series, and the 2049 target viewership ratings were 3.5% in the metropolitan area, ranking first among all channels. (Based on Nielsen Korea paid households)
On this day, Ok Tae-young was imprisoned because of the county magistrate Oh Dal-seong (played by Yang Joon-mo), who was obsessed with making her a widow, and in the meantime, Mrs. Song (played by Jeon Ik-ryeong) shamelessly visited Cha Mi-ryeong (played by Yeon Woo) and aroused her anger. Mrs. Song, who had managed to sneak into the Seong household while Ok Tae-young was away, began to act as the landlady and abusive to the family members.
Ok Tae-young, who had been imprisoned and gradually losing energy, also decided to survive and escape prison when she found out about this. Because of that, Ok Tae-young pretended to follow the magistrate’s wishes and bowed her head, and just as she was about to become a widow, her husband Seong Yoon-gyeom (played by Choo Young-woo) showed up, and the government office where all the townspeople had gathered became a scene of chaos.
After that, Ok Tae-young miraculously returned to her position and held a banquet on purpose to obtain evidence that Lady Song and the magistrate Oh Dal-seong were in collusion, and she joined forces with the inspector Heo Jong-moon (played by Kim Jong-tae) to dig into the case and chase down those behind them.
However, the problem lay elsewhere. Seong Yoon-gyeom, who had lost his memory in an accident on a ship to China, was caught in a slightly different state than in the past. Even though the Aeshimdan brand on his shoulder and his excellent martial arts skills were still there, Ok Tae-young continued to be suspicious because the gaze looking at him seemed so much like that of Cheon Seung-hwi (played by Choo Young-woo).
In order to cover up his true identity, Ok Tae-young prepared and sprinkled the pine pollen that Cheon Seung-hwi had sneezed at, and in the end, unable to hold back his sneeze, he surprised everyone by confessing that he was Cheon Seung-hwi and not Seong Yoon-gyeom. Ok Tae-young scolded Cheon Seung-hwi for making such a risky choice and told him to go back quickly.
However, Ok Tae-young was shocked when she heard from Man-seok (played by Lee Jae-won) that Cheon Seung-hwi had given up his life and become Seong Yoon-gyeom because he could not disobey or postpone the Qing Dynasty performance that the court had ordered. As the love of Cheon Seung-hwi, who chose to live only for Ok Tae-young, deeply touched the hearts of viewers, attention is focused on what will happen to the two in the future.
Whether Im Ji-yeon will accept Chu Young-woo‘s choice and live as a fake couple, lying about everything, can be found out in episode 10 of JTBC’s Sat-Sun drama ‘Lady Ok‘s Story’, which airs tonight (the 5th) at 10:30 p.m.
