‘Smoking Gun’ Lee Ji-hye is furious, saying, “I‘m getting irritated.”

On September 15, 2019, an urgent phone call came in saying that her daughter seemed to have been kidnapped at a friend’s house. The police, who had been tracking the daughter‘s whereabouts through CCTV, found Hye-jin (pseudonym), who had been kidnapped in Iksan. They asked Hye-jin’s mother about the suspicious story she had heard. Hye-jin often said, “Someone killed someone by pouring water and burying them in the ground”, and “I‘m scared because I think I’ll be buried too”. After persistent persuasion, the detectives found the location of the secret burial site and dug the ground with suspicious hearts. To their surprise, they found the body of Soo-hee (pseudonym), curled up and dead. What on earth has been happening to her?

“The villa was an inescapable hell and torture chamber.”

The police heard an unbelievable story from Hyejin and her boyfriend. The deceased Soohee was locked in the veranda in the hot summer and suffered all kinds of assault and torture. They even set her hair on fire with a blowtorch and cut her thighs and the instep with a sickle. And it was said that this horrific crime was masterminded by Mr. Cha (pseudonym), who lived in the same house. Mr. Cha lured Hyejin and Suhee, who had nowhere to go, by telling them to live with him, then forced them to work, taking all the money they earned and forcing them into prostitution.

However, when Suhee was unable to make money through prostitution, the intensity of the torture increased and she eventually died during the process. Why on earth couldn‘t they escape from this hell? Lee Ji-hye was furious, saying, “I’m so angry that they forced people into prostitution, killed them, and buried them in secret,” and Ahn Hyun-mo expressed her sorrow, saying, “Unbelievable things were happening in the villa, and it seemed like the victims lived a slave-like life.”

In fact, the victims had one thing in common. All four of them had intellectual disabilities. In Smoking Gun, we look into the reasons why crimes against the intellectually disabled continue with a psychiatrist, and dig into the truth of the horrific incident with former Gunsan Police Station violent crimes team leader Yoon Gil-joong, who uncovered the whole story of the case after a tenacious investigation.

The ‘Concrete Burial Incident’, which ultimately led to death in an inescapable hell, can be seen on KBS2‘Smoking Gun’ on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 9:50 p.m.
