Actor Joo Jong-hyuk expressed his gratitude to his seniors Kim Hye-soo and Jung Sung-il, who he worked with in ‘Trigger’.

At the production conference for the Disney+ drama ‘Trigger’ held at the Conrad Seoul Hotel in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 8th, Joo Jong-hyuk looked back on filming, saying, “I received a lot of help from seniors Kim Hye-soo and Jung Sung-il”.

He described his role as Kang Ki-ho, saying, “He is someone who takes great pride in what he does and tries hard. He is a contract assistant director who gets frustrated a lot because he wants to become a full-time employee.”

In addition, Jeong Seong-il, who plays the role of PD Han-do, a mid-level rookie who crash-lands in the investigative reporting team at the drama department, said, “In the drama, I‘m jealous of PD Han-do and hate him, but on the other hand, I find him cool and find him annoying,” and explained, “In reality, it felt like meeting my real brother. Our temperaments are similar, so I felt comfortable.”

Joo Jong-hyuk added, “I asked both senior Kim Hye-soo and hyung Sung-il a lot of questions whenever I acted. That’s why they‘re both like teachers to me. Whenever we acted together, they gave me the look in their eyes that said, ’Do whatever you want, I‘ll accept it,’ which gave me strength.”

When asked how much of a source of energy he was on set as the youngest, he said, “I‘ll be a little cheeky. I wanted to be a source of energy on set even outside of the script. I felt a small sense of responsibility that I had to make the atmosphere better as the youngest. So before going to bed, I thought about what kind of episode I would make my seniors laugh with tomorrow,” he said, making the set burst into laughter.

He continued, “But senior Jeong Seong-il was really strong. I think I made about 40% of it funny. The remaining 30% was for my seniors. But I think I made it a little funnier,” receiving applause.

Meanwhile, ‘Trigger’ is about a group of vicious investigative journalists who, in order to expose the wrongdoings of bad guys in this flowery world, start by sticking their cameras on them. The hilarious story of Oh So-ryong (Kim Hye-soo), PD Han Do (Jung Seong-il), and assistant director Kang Ki-ho (Joo Jong-hyuk), who create a popular current affairs program for a broadcasting station, unfolds.
