MBC donated 580 million won in profits.
According to MBC on the 8th, donations were made to 18 social welfare organizations and schools through the ‘2024 MBC Donation Ceremony’ held at the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation building in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu that morning.
The ceremony was attended by MBC President Ahn Hyung-joon, as well as officials from 11 social welfare organizations including the Community Chest of Korea, Dongbang Social Welfare Society, Milal Welfare Foundation, Snail of Love, Seoul National University Children‘s Hospital, Severance Children’s Hospital, Anna‘s House, Beautiful Foundation, Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation, and Together Love Field.
The donations made this time amounted to a total of 580 million won, and were raised through donations from MBC headquarters and affiliates, voluntary participation in salary donations by employees, and additional profits from content from popular programs such as ‘I Live Alone’ and ‘What Do You Do When You Play?’.
President Ahn Hyung-joon said, “Social welfare organizations are strong pillars that illuminate the dark corners of our society and deliver hope to our neighbors in need,” adding, “We produce programs that practice the value of sharing with viewers and provide a helping hand to our neighbors in need and to you.” We will do our best to serve as a bridge connecting the two Koreas.”
In addition to social welfare organizations, MBC also donated to schools and sports organizations of all levels, including Iwon Elementary School, Incheon Sports High School, Yecheon County Citizens Scholarship Association, Noam Elementary School, Inil Girls’ High School, Suncheon Seongnam Elementary School, and the Korea Association of Athletics Federations’ Young Tree Athletes.
