Shin Sung-rok is a multi-entertainer who has been active in various fields regardless of genre, including movies, dramas, entertainment shows, and performances. Shin Sung-rok, who began acting in a Daehangno theater troupe, debuted in the 2002 SBS drama ‘Shoot for the Stars’ and made his name known to the public in 2007 with his role as Yeong-shin‘s (Gong Hyo-jin) first love and the best kingka of Pureun Island, ‘Choi Seok-hyun’ in MBC’s ‘Thank You’.
After that, in 2013, he played the role of ‘Lee Jae-kyung’, a psychopath hidden behind a mask, in ‘My Love from the Star’. Not only did he receive much love for his unrivaled character digestion, but he also earned favorable reviews such as ‘Shin Sung-rok‘s signature villain’ for his three-dimensional villain characters in ‘Return’, ‘The Last Empress’. Also, through ‘Vagabond’, ‘Kairos’, and ‘Doctor Royer’, he solidified his position as an irreplaceable actor by portraying attractive characters with a wide acting spectrum.
Shin Sung-rok, who recently made a special appearance in the SBS drama ‘Judge from Hell’ as the highest-ranking demon ‘Bael’, clearly shows the worldview of hell in the drama. He appeared at important moments and displayed impactful acting with cold eyes, cool expressions, and grotesque atmosphere, making a mark.
Shin Sung-rok is currently appearing in the musical ‘Swing Days_Codename A’ as ‘Yoo Il-hyung’, a successful businessman who secretly supports the independence movement. ‘Swing Days_Codename A’ is a creative musical based on the real-life figure Ilhan Yoo, who participated in the Napko Project, which the OSS (the Washington Office for Strategic Services, the predecessor of the U.S. CIA) prepared for the independence of the Republic of Korea. Shin Sung-rok is captivating the audience with his deep voice and excellent emotional acting.
