Actor Lee Hak-joo will be appearing in the Coupang Play drama ‘Newtopia’.

According to his agency SM C&C on the 9th, Lee Hak-joo has been cast as Sung Tae-seok in ‘Newtopia’, which will be released on February 7th.

The drama is based on the novel ‘Influenza’ by author Han Sang-woon, and tells the story of soldier Jae-yoon (Park Jung-min) and ‘Gomshin’ Yeong-ju (Ji-soo) running toward each other through downtown Seoul that has been attacked by zombies.

In the drama, Lee Hak-joo plays Sung Tae-seok, a celebrity known as ‘Alex’, and the CEO of the game company Alex Entertainment. He is a brain with sharp judgment and reasoning skills, and a person who truly helps Yeong-ju, whom he meets by chance.

In the meantime, Lee Hak-joo has gained popularity by perfectly portraying unique characters in various genres such as the dramas ‘LTNS’, ‘Lovers’, ‘Detective Record’, ‘Opera City’, ‘This is How It Turned, Going to the Blue House’, ‘My Name’, ‘Private Life’, ‘Midnight Runners’, ‘The World of the Married’, ‘Melo Is My Nature’.

In particular, he left a strong impression in the recently concluded drama ‘Parole Judge Lee Han-shin’, playing the villain Ji Myeong-seop.
