In ‘Check In Hanyang’, Kim Ji-eun stabs Kim Min-jung with a knife to get revenge from 12 years ago.

In episode 8 of Channel A‘s weekend drama ‘Check In Hanyang’ (written by Park Hyun-jin/directed by Myung Hyun-woo, Noh Kyu-yeop/planned by Channel A/produced by Wemad, Artist Studio, Story Networks/joint production and investment by PONY CANYON), which aired on the 12th, Hong Deok-soo (played by Kim Ji-eun) was depicted stabbing Seol Mae-hwa (played by Kim Min-jung) with a sword to get revenge on her father.

In the broadcast that day, Hong Deok-soo suggested to Cheon Bang-ju (played by Kim Eui-sung) that they create a gambling house in Yongcheonru, saying, “I will help you make money”, and asked him to accept him as an official servant if he succeeds. Cheon Bang-ju watched Hong Deok-su, who was good at breaking the rules, with interest and accepted the deal.

After hearing this, Cheon Jun-hwa (Jung Gun-joo) raised an objection to his father Cheon Bang-ju delaying Hong Deok-su’s return, contrary to his promise. However, Cheon Bang-ju scolded his son for his foolishness and said that it was Muyeong-gun who took Hong Deok-su out of the police station, and even gave a hint that Muyeong-gun was among the four members of Hahabang. Excluding Go Soo-ra (Park Jae-chan) and Hong Deok-su who had already come from Namhae Trading Company, Lee Eun-ho (Bae In-hyeok) was Muyeong-gun. Cheon Bang-ju also advised him, saying, “If you want to get what you want, you have to move first.”

In response, Cheon Jun-hwa went to Lee Eun-ho, who had succeeded in taking Hong Deok-su out first, and declared, “I‘m going to try Yongcheonru Taesangbangju,” and “I don’t want to lose the lead this time.” Then, Cheon Jun-hwa said, “Let‘s try our best,” and reached out his hand to Lee Eun-ho, and Lee Eun-ho took his hand, bewildered but confused.

Lee Eun-ho went to see his father, King Hyeon-wi Lee (played by Han Jae-seok), and gave him half of the Hwangdonggeumsi he had gotten from Cheon Bang-ju’s residence. He kept the fact that he had already found the other half and that it was Hong Deok-su a secret. However, Lee Eun-ho suspected that the Hwangdonggeumsi he had might be fake. Lee Eun-ho, who was curious about the Hwangdonggeumsi and Hong Deok-su, asked Lee Hyeon-wi about the story behind the Hwangdonggeumsi, but he reacted sensitively and kept his mouth shut.

Hong Deok-su tried everything he could to open the gambling house safely. Cheon Jun-hwa was the first to lend money and offer support, and Go Soo-ra also joined after learning that the money was used to help him. Lee Eun-ho also helped Hong Deok-soo by providing the necessary funds through his bodyguard, warrior Beom-ho (played by Bae Jae-won).

Hong Deok-soo was kicked out of the Yongcheonru servant‘s quarters and had no place to sleep properly. Hong Deok-soo, who couldn’t sleep properly at night due to nightmares about the day his father died, took a nap outside during the day with a peach branch that Lee Eun-ho had given him. Lee Eun-ho took care of Hong Deok-soo by blocking the sunlight from his eyes, and holding his head when he fell asleep.

With the help of everyone, the gambling house was completed. The name, ‘Bullakho’, means ‘Isn‘t it fun?’, and is taken from a passage in the Analects. Hong Deok-soo showed it to Cheon Bang-ju before the opening and invited Seol Mae-hwa to be the host. Hong Deok-soo suggested a game called ‘Life and Death’ to Seol Mae-hwa, where the life and death of a horse is at stake. Even though it was just a game, the tense tension between the two made the viewers’ hearts race.

With Hong Deok-soo‘s victory, the demonstration of the Bullakho is over, and now all that’s left is for the Bullakho to open the next day. However, that night, someone carved the phrase ‘Leave’ in Hong Deok-soo‘s room, stuck a sword into the Bullakho signboard, and left. Hong Deok-soo, who saw this, was convinced that Seol Mae-hwa had done it, and left a letter on her desk as Hong Jae-on, saying, ‘If you want your sword back, come to the place where you taught me how to play doubles.’

Hong Deok-soo and Seol Mae-hwa met again at Hong Min-sik’s (Choi Deok-moon) old mansion. Seol Mae-hwa tried to approach Hong Deok-soo, calling him “Jae-on-ah. However, Hong Deok-soo stabbed Seol Mae-hwa with his sword. It was the same picture that Seol Mae-hwa used to stab her father Hong Min-sik 12 years ago. Will Seol Mae-hwa die like this? Will Hong Deok-soo‘s path of revenge end here? With the shocking ending, viewers’ curiosity and anticipation for the next episode of ‘Check In Hanyang’ are growing.
